The American Revolution had fought from 1775 to 1783. Soon the fighting began between British troops and colonial rebels. By the following summer, the rebels had formed the Continental Army and were fighting a war for their independence. They use logic and reason, social contract, and legal document for most dominant in Revolutionary literature. In the literature of “The Crisis” by Thomas Paine the type of writing that it use in this speech is persuasive and propaganda; and this literary form a pamphlet; the purposes of this speech is to get men to fight and concepts the age of reason is the logic and reason, quest for freedom.
The Three Musketeers Take Transcendentalism The transcendental movement that occurred between 1830 and 1850 is best understood by exploring the context in which it began. America had declared its independence from England half a century earlier, however, continued to hold onto many of Europe’s religious and political tenets. Highly acclaimed American philosophers, poets, and authors of the day, like Henry James Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson, felt it was time for the people in the fledgling country to further distance itself from Europe’s influence and develop their own unique set of beliefs based on personal experiences, intuitions and inspirations. Transcendentalists maintained that all people had access to divine inspiration, knowledge and truth; and these instincts transcended what can be seen, heard, felt, touched or tasted. As such, each individual could trust their own authority of what was right and what was wrong.
Paul Revere was not a unique hero before the battle of Lexington. Not really known but Paul Revere was one of many heros. Thomas Paine’s pamphlet “Common Sense” was one of the most important documents written in the period leading to America’s independence from Britain. In this pamphlet he spoke in favor of American independence. He wanted to let his fellow colonists know that it was time to stop talking about leaving the English rule, and time to take action. He spoke of how America should form a democratic republic that allowed the people to decide what rules and laws they should have. It was written in common english, for everyone, so that every one could understand it There are many things he argues for, this essay will talk about the main points of it and how it shaped America today and other important documents.
Using the pen name of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, Mark Twain was considered one of the most influencing authors of American fiction. First, his works used the voices of common people, reaching out to those with the same situation he had in life. Mark Twain used his books to describe his boyhood, in such a way so that others may relate. Second, he used his intelligence to tell others of his experience during American conflicts. In one of his books, The Gilded Age, Mark Twain explains to readers about the "selfishness and money-making schemes" during the Gilded Age, in further understanding of the revolution of American History.

Niccolo Machiavelli and his influence on the Enlightenment Niccolo di Bernardo dei Machiavelli, also known as the father of “Modern Political Theory” was a well-known Italian diplomat, politician, humanist, historian, philosopher and writer from the era of renaissance philosophy. He belonged to several schools of thought, namely: Renaissance humanism, Political realism, Classical republicanism. His claim to fame was his popular book, “The Prince”, which was a handbook for politicians on the use of ruthless, self-serving, cunning inspiring the term “Machiavellian.” Before he wrote his book, Machiavelli was a diplomat for 14 years in Italy’s Florence Republic during the Medici family’s exile. Florence had been under a republican government since 1494 when the leading Medici family and its supporters had been driven from power. During this time, Machiavelli thrived under the patronage of the Florentine ‘gonfaloniers’ chief administrator for life, Piero Soderini.

In 1681, William Penn (1644-1718) received a royal charter from King Charles II which allowed him to be the founder of Pennsylvania in British America. In this document students are able to see The Frame of Government Penn wrote for the new founding middle colony, Pennsylvania. The document was under a deep influence from the writings of James Harrington and was to provide a government for Pennsylvania which stated how many people could be in the council and assembly. Since Penn was known to be a Quaker he wanted this colony to be a haven for Quakers and other religious members who were always persecuted from the Church of England or from the Puritans as well as allowing the rich and the poor to have a voice in political affairs and not overrule one another. By late October 1682 Penn went out on his own to venture into the New World and would some come across an area that he would buy from the Swedes and would then name it Philadelphia.
