Thorough analyzation of a book can reveal a greater message that one may not have initially noticed. Of the many famous works of literature in the world, the majority are allegorical in nature, meaning that they can be looked into in order to uncover a hidden meaning. Lord of the Flies, a controversial and thought provoking novel by William Golding tells the tale of a group of British boys stranded on an island during a nuclear war, focusing on their struggle to survive and coexist. Yet through characters and events in the novel, Golding uses allegory to convey the message that every person is inherently evil, and only behaves in the manner society has shaped them to.
Upon the boy's’ arrival to the island, confusion and fear were abundant.

In the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the final passage in chapter 3 highlights a Boy named Simon as an unrecognized but vital character who will have a large impact on the story. The final sentence of the chapter reads, “The candle buds opened their wide white flowers…. Their scent spilled out into the air and took possession of the island.(Page 57)” This description of the nature around Simon is foreshadowing how Simon will become a large part later in the story, possibly having the chance to literally “[Posses] the island.” Just like the nature that surrounds him, he is not appreciated or seen, but will have an impact that Golding foreshadows in the future.

Many movies that we see in the movie theaters now are an adaptation of books from the past. We have many famous examples such as Spiderman comic to Spiderman Homecoming and Doom the video game was made into a Movie starring Dwayne Johnson. Linda Hutcheon defines adaptation in “Beginning to Theorize Adaptation” as " repetition, but repetition without replication" (7). What Hutcheon is stating is that all adaptation might be copied, but it will not be the same as the original. Many adaptations can exist from comic to movie, book to movie or game to movie, but not all adaptations are successful, since most of what is done in a book or game can require a huge budget to bring to reality.

It was a balmy afternoon in January and everywhere houses lit up. Couples were coming home and doing it, stripping off their business suits and kicking off their heels. They were doing it in empty car parks, in front of mirrors, against steamy shower walls and on top of kitchen counters. They did it to honor man, to honor beast, to honor god— because they could, because they were home free and it was friday and they deserved it.
