2.3 Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship is a complex phenomenon which is used in three one-dimensional concepts; the entrepreneurial individual, the entrepreneurial phenomenon and the firm. Various authors define entrepreneurship as an economic phenomenon that can help an organisation in developing those products or services which did not exist before (Gartner, 1985; Solymossy, 1998).
Solymossy (1998) presents a model of entrepreneurship which is based in the three elements; the environmental influence, the characteristics of the firm and the individual’s attitudinal orientation. Various authors agree that there is neither comprehensive literature nor any empirical research on BSC for small businesses and startups (Andersen, Cobbold & Lawrie, 2001; Afonso & Cunha, 2010; Hakola, 2010; Rompho, 2011; Giannopoulos, Holt, Khansalar & Cleanthous, 2013; Watts, Baard & McNair, 2009).
However, Andersen, Cobbold & Lawrie, (2001) claim that there are various strategic management issues which are very similar in small organizations as well as in large organizations such as the need of direction from the seniors, Focus and ability to prioritise and the balance between long term planning and short term operational measures. Also, they list understanding of the business model of the company to do the “right things”, flexibility to integrate new knowledge in the operational and strategic processes and the need for the identification, implementation and achievement of strategic

A lot of business owners do not understand the importance of communication and respect in the business world. I believe a business that works together will lead to a successful business. You should build the business together like a family. The result of doing this will lead to everyone within the business working together to have a successful business; which will lead to growth in the business. Strategic Planning “" involves making decisions about the organization’s long-term goals and strategies” (Bateman, T & Snell, S, 2013, p.96).
Task 1 (P1) Create a poster, for the trainee staff, illustrating the typical phases of a project lifecycle, with a clear explanation of each of the stages. The phases of a project lifecycle include the following: Define and Produce Specification The first part of a project lifecycle is defining what the project will be about this first part is important because if the project wasn’t defined then what will the staff and the project manager be working on as they would have no idea what is required this can be done by asking for the requirements that the client wants for the project if there is one, then after this comes the specifications this means what components are needed for the project or any other things that are needed will vary depending on what the project is about but this will give the manager details on the things needed so that they would be able to get a precise cost on the components needed. Plan and Design Next comes the plan for the project which gives a better idea of what the project will look like and also it might have a rough sketch of not only the design but the components as well it can also have a timeline to give everyone working on the project a time frame when certain parts or things in the project needs to be done, design is also part of this part of the life cycle this
Interventtion Strategy Tool One: Activity Schedule (Visual Cues) What: The first tool designed for Oliver is an activity schedule or cue cards which he would use to keep track of all the steps in an expected task. This schedule will be used for as many activities as needed. Having a structure visual of what he needs to do, which he could also manipulate on his own, could make the activity less intimidating, and more manageable. With this tool we will be trying to avoid off-task behavior, initially during “Arrival/Dismissal”.
An entrepreneurship or working for a business involves organization and being familiar with the functions, types and levels of management (Bethel University, 2011). Planning, organizing, leading, and controlling are relevant to the business of any organization or company. WalMart was used in this paper to illustrate the importance and effectiveness of establishing a BSC. The desired effect of a BSC is to improve the organizational performance and productivity of a company by setting targets and implementing strategic initiatives to accomplish desired results. This ultimately leads to an improvement of the four perspectives of the BSC which are the financial perspective, customer perspective, internal perspective, and the learning perspective. When a company implements the proposed methods contained within the BSC, the company will increase the customer satisfaction as well as increase customer retention. This also allows the company to improve its learning and growth perspective by decreasing employee turnover rate, improving the company?s ability to attract and retain new employees, and it will increase employee satisfaction.
