Introduction and the Three Dimensions of Globalization
Globalization does not have a set definition. It is the process of interaction between different nations in ways of trading goods, services, ideas, cultures, political strategies, technology and so on.1 Globalization has been around for many years in ways of people trading goods across borders and around the world, as well as investing in international companies. It is only in the recent past that globalization has become such a big influence and well recognized as it has become easier to trade, travel and communicate across borders with newer technology.
There are three main dimensions when it comes to globalization, they are, economical, political and cultural.2

Globalization strengthens political power and responsibility of the government by different countries and nations communicating and working together to solve problems. The perfect example of this is the United Nations (UN). When the UN started in 1945 there were only 51 member states or countries enrolled. Due to political globalization and countries working together for the benefit of the world as a whole there are currently 193 member states in the UN. 6 Political globalization can be very beneficial when countries need to stand together and support each other during difficult times such as unforeseen natural disasters or terrorist attacks. There are many African countries that are part of the United Nations. The main UN centers are in Kenya and Ethiopia. Political globalization is the reason that the UN exists and can uphold political peace between countries and help foreign countries aid African countries in need.
“Cultural globalization refers to the transmission of ideas, meanings and values around the world in such a way as to extend and intensify social relations." 7 The internet , pop culture, and traveling to different countries has definitely had a large impact on the cultures of countries and it has even combined different cultures to form new ones. When people get into a relationship or possibly even marry somebody from a different culture it can get difficult. For example if a South African marries an American the wedding ceremonies are slightly different between the cultures and some of their beliefs and traditions may differ which could eventually cause strain in the relationship. Due to colonization and globalization what was once solely an African country has become very British and Americanized. In modern day their are many different cultures that have adapted into a South African culture. Some people don 't like the mix or adaptation of cultures and this causes a big conflict between the people of the country which puts strain on everything from the economy to the political
