In today’s world, choosing a college major has become increasingly onerous due to a wide range of programs to choose from. Because of this, many students have spread their interest across myriad courses. Displayed in the given graph from Acme University are their program enrollment trends from 2005 to 2009 for the majors of engineering, liberal arts, and allied health. Though the data given in this graph may seem minuscule, one may compare, contrast, and categorize the statistics. As a result, one may evaluate the graph as well as chronicle the major trends and details. Saliently, one may compare the disparities between the three majors. Though liberal arts had the highest enrollment rate in 2007, it also had the lowest in 2008. In addition, while allied health programs seemed to be on a steady path, liberal arts dropped greatly from 2005 to 2006. From 2006 to 2007 liberal arts rose to its highest number of students whilst engineering dropped to its lowest enrollment rate, as did allied health. This data suggests that engineering and allied health for Acme University have very similar interest rates, as they follow each other. All three majors have the closest amount of students enrolled during the time period of 2008 to 2009, though they are very far apart for most of the four years. A trend that is quite evident happens to be that of the rise of liberal arts enrollment when there is a drop in engineering and allied health, as well as a plunge in liberal arts when there was an increase in engineering an allied health. It is also evident that these trends show a constant pattern of interest for the majors, falling and rising at constant rates.
