THE THREE LIVING TREES
The trees are three in number but the first is the tree of knowledge and is the combination of good and evil that unites as one. Thus is their arrangement,
A. The tree of knowledge-good and evil
B. The tree of life
C. The tree of dead
The tree of life is what united the other two to form one making good and evil to live side by side, as both are dwelling within this last tree which in this case is call the tree of equilibrium.
Certainly, the pillars of the tree of life are also three in number, the right hand pillar, the left hand pillar, and the middle pillar. In this, the middle pillar is the pillar of equilibrium, which is the whole of the tree since all rests united here. And until one is able to climb up this ladder of light-understanding, our return to the kingdom is elusive. Therefore one should commence thus; first, direct our thoughts to the base of this tree, and here one should have the exact physical feelings through personal contact.

The avocado tree is an emblem for the grandfather. The grandfather worked hard,and took care of his family, which is represented by the branches. Trees that are well-rooted are strong and indestructible, and cannot easily be destroyed. The difference in the author’s purpose for writing “The Tree of Life” and “Odious Underarmus, Marathon Man” is that in the story “The Tree of Life”, it was to give information about how the coconut palms are useful, and in “Odious Underarmus, Marathon Man”, the purpose of this passage was to entertain. It was different in both passages because in “Odious Underarmus, Marathon Man”, the author chose names for each character by their role in the passage. It was different in the “The Tree of Life” because the author didn’t make up the names for the parts of the coconut tree, but gave the parts its actual name and where it got its name.

The journey to the tree is the journey to rebirth and hope. In the Holy Bible, a tree symbolizes hope and rebirth. In the second chapter of the Holy Bible, Adam and Eve eat from the the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Taylor-Weiss). As a result, God punishes Adam and Eve for disobeying by kicking them out from the Garden of Eden. Human life changed after God cursed creation.
At first, his tone is straightforward, as he describes the factual occurrences on the trees by way of nature. Then, he becomes personal, outline his own experiences on trees. They hold a special place in his heart since he enjoyed them during an innocent part of his life.
