Design technology is the fundamental skill elements for all designers. It is the basic step for designers to learn and explore new ideas to create an art that can function or inspire others. The National Curriculum in England mentioned that the students of design technology are equipped with knowledge in mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Students learn how to be a capable, resourceful, innovative, enterprising and risk-taking individual. Graphic design is about resolving a problem or communicating aided with visuals by using techniques of typography, photography and illustration. As mentioned by Helfand (2009), graphic design is defined as an art of visualizing design ideas. It is also an art which practise the skills on outlining and projecting ideas and experiences with visual aid. Professional graphic designers should occupy themselves with three main skills which is typography, page layout and printmaking. Typography is technique of arranging the written language to make the written language readable and appealing for the readers. The font types, font sizes and the spacing between the lines are selected and modified so that the wording on the visual look appropriate. Page layout technique is the technique of arranging the elements, text layout, images and style on a printed material. Printing artworks on a paper or other surfaces are known as printmaking. It enables printing of same image or artwork on different surfaces. An original art is produced and printed on several surfaces made by different materials, such as metal, wood, stone, fabric and linoleum. They also emphasize on the principle and elements of art. Experts who are specialized in graphic design usually possess great observation skills and analytical thinking. Besides, professional designers use computer to make their work more convenient.
