Texas State commission on judicial conduct suspended Judge Christopher Dupuy without pay following his indictment by a state grand jury on two counts of obstruction, retaliation; 3 counts of abuse of official capacity. According to news reports, Laird represented the judge’s former wife in a custody battle over their children. After refusing to give a deposition, the judge held her in contempt, which was overturned on appeal. Another count in the complaint alleges that he used a couny fax machine to send legal documents on behalf on his then- fiancé. Judge Dupuy has been a targeted because he has spoken out against widespread, long-term corruption in the Galveston County court system.
Timothy McVeigh was the person who was involved in the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995. This bombing at the time was the worst terror attack in U.S. history. The explosion killed 168 people with 19 people being children, injured hundreds of more people, and the damage costed approximately hundreds of millions of dollars. McVeigh was born on April 23, 1968 in Lockport, New York. As a young kid, he developed interest in guns.
Yesterday, Sloan Jackson, age 18 was put on trial for stealing a shirt from Famous Fashions in Merchandise Mall. He supposedly ran out of the store with a lump (which was the same color as the stolen shirt) in his jacket to go to Record Mart because there was a big sale going on. He then was found sitting next to the yogurt stand and the shirt was found in a trash barrel near the yogurt stand. He then ran away from the security guard but he was in the end caught and brought back to the store to return the shirt. At the trial yesterday the jury came to a verdict of being guilty after talking in the jury room for about 10 minutes.

Even though respondent agreed to the terms of probation following release, which included searches of his person or premises with or without a warrant (The United States Department of Justice, 2014). Rule: The rule of law in regards to Knights probation conditions following release state that Knights would “submit his person, property, residence, vehicle, personal effects, to be searched at any time, with or without a search warrant, warrant of arrest or reasonable cause by any probation officer or law enforcement officer” (Karagiozis et al., 2005 p. 223).
Thomas Lee Causby has owned and took care of a chicken farm outside of Greensboro, North Carolina. His farm was about 2.8 acres of land all near an airport used for military and commercial flights. The farm was located near an airport used often by the military. Causby said the noise from the airport nearby disturbed his chickens so much that the chickens started dying off. The Brock Turner case is a very controversial case that spark debate on the subject of white male privilege and the abuse of power. People speculate that the only reason Turner received such a minimal sentence is because his parents are affluent and influential, due to their success and status as a white professional. He was found guilty and the judge gave him a very lenient sentence. Many people saw this as unfair to the girl that was raped and to everyone else impacted by this man 's crime. The judge 's name is Aaron Persky.
Abel Fields was convicted under the Stolen Valor Act for falsely claiming he had received the Purple Heart. Fields has never served in the military and therefore has never received a military award. At his first trial, Fields was found guilty for violating the Stolen Valor Act and was sentenced to a fine. Fields then appealed his sentence and the Court of Appeals overturned his conviction citing that Fields’ First Amendment rights were violated. The Things They Carried The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien is a novel written about the Vietnam war O’Brien throughout the story describes events that happened to him and his brothers during the war, also how the soldiers experiences affected them in many ways. When one thinks about war they come to a conclusion that it's about fighting for our country. Strict rules and boundaries being set and doing the best for our country. Although the moment you're getting fired at, your brothers dying and the possibility that you could die all runs through your head to a moment where you are no longer thinking you are just doing.
