On my first day of kindergarten my mom took me to school. She walked me to class and stayed with me for a few minutes then she had to leave to go to work. I was okay for a little while then I started crying. I did not have my mom around and I did not have my grandmother around. My teacher let me call my mom and my mom told me “I was a big boy, I have to go to school and that everything would be ok, stop crying and that she loved me”.
“Oh the places you’ll go, today is your day. Your mountain is waiting. So...get on your way.” This might sound a little familiar to some, but others might not know who wrote this quote. Many children, including myself, have grown up listening and reading books by Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss! Dr. Seuss is one of the most well-known American author and illustrator of children’s books.
They no longer feel self conscious because their parents could not afford to buy them new clothes so they have to wear the same limited wardrobe each week. Instead they can come in and pick out a large quantity of outfits and every Tuesday and Thursday. This organization is such a blessing for many students and I would not trade my experience there for anything in the world. I also volunteer at my school library form time to time. I have always adored reading.
I visited a preschool program in the City of Commerce that is called Tiny Toots for my observation #2. These preschoolers go to school three times a week for two hours. Their ages approximate from four to five years old. I will describe in this observation the "instructional approach to literacy" in the class. I will also analyze and observe the ways children "read it to you" Classification Scheme.
Language acquisition is a fundamental stage of childhood, as is generally the focus for 6- to 12-year-old school children (Bee et al., 2018). As a child, I was encouraged by my parents to read as an independent hobby. Research suggests the importance of motivating children to prepare for independent reading in school, as it contributes to one’s reading performance in adulthood (Bee et al., 2018). My genuine passion and interest in reading influenced my literary ability from an early age, and I was reading novels by kindergarten and was often placed in gifted reading programs. Had I not been so interested in reading as a child, my literary aptitude may not be at the level where it is
While in the room, it takes the mother somewhat close to a hour to get the daughters’ hair properly done, with the parting of the hair and placing the bows into her hair. Mother believes that while in kindergarten you do not need all of the extra things such as carrying a pencil, a pencil sharpener, and a small ten-cent tablet with a black and white speckled cover (Jones). The daughter’s first school is planned for her to attend by her mother because it is in the comfort zone that she prefers simply because it is close to her mother’s church, which is her rock. When they finally arrive at the first school after their long journey, things are going well. The daughter is dressed and has her hair well done and also arrived at the first, which is in the comfort zone of the mother.
Narrative Essay One day I was just at school I went to Carbon Valley Academy at the time, I remember that I was in art class with my friends Talea ,Jillian ,Anastasia ,Charlotte, and Allie. The project that we working on was our last one as being 5th graders , we were putting our hands in the color of paint that we liked and then for the school we put our handprints on a garden barrel. I got picked up from my grandmother that day and she took me to her house after school like she had done everyday ever since kindergarten. When I got to her house I opened up my friday folder and got all of my homework and ate my ice cream while working on it at the dining table. I did this everyday
The first day of elementary school is a monumental memory for children and their parents. The aroma of cinnamon rolls filled the air as my mom prepared me for my first day as a kindergartener. My pink sparkly bookbag sits next to the door beside my new light up velcro tennis shoes. My mom opted to buy me the velcro shoes because she did not know how I would be able to tie my shoes utilizing only my left hand. Chris is my older brother and he was going to be starting fourth grade at Highland Elementary School.
My journey of reading and writing throughout my life is one started during my childhood in elementary school. Even though reading and writing have been a struggle for myself, I am still continuing to try to increase my reading and writing levels. As a child, I had difficulty in reading. Because of this, the school required extra classes for reading. It was not until my senior year in high school that I wrote my first thesis paper.
It was the first day of Kindergarten. I went to Roosevelt Elementary, I walked in with no friends having no clue I was going that I was going to be stuck in school for the next fourteen years. I walked into Mrs. Kramers class, I see all the toys she had in the back, a toy kitchen, and a painting corner. Later on, I found myself friends with Alison, she had long blonde hair with glasses. She was so nice and fun to play with, we would even hang out after school together.
