Evil: “Tom Robinson shut his eyes tight. “He says you gosh dang whore, I’ll kill ya”(Lee 260). With this quote I think Harper Lee is saying no matter how nice someone is to everyone you truly never know what they really are like.
Radley shot at the kids but he didn’t say anything so they could learn from their mistakes even when Dill lied and said they were actually playing strip poker. The second one I could find is when Jem gets really mad at Mrs. Dubose for calling his dad (Atticus) a nig**r lover and trash. Jem could not control his temper and went around with Scouts baton that he had bought her and cut ever camellia in Mrs. Dubose’s yard. So Atticus make him go apologies, Jem apologizes even though he doesn’t mean it, cleans up the yard and said to work every Saturday till the grow back and then work for a month reading to her every afternoon after school for two hours.
Mayella’s father named Mr.Ewell is not received by the time Atticus attitude in court, despite the problems it has ended with the death of Tom, still do not receive even avenge secretly to Atticus, even his family, Judge Taylor, and Tom 's wife. Mr.Ewell ever spit on Atticus’s face and made Scout and Jem must restrain their anger. All of these problems end with death Mr.Ewell. He fell and impaled by a knife clutched himself to kill Jem and Scout. When it jem injured, still in his costume Scout survived a puncture in the dark.
Moments after Heck Tate explained to Atticus the story he was prepared to tell Maycomb about Ewell’s death, Scout reached out for Boo’s arm. He was to escort her to his home. Never would she escort him home, he was the gentleman, and the people needed to know this. As Scout stood on the Radley porch, facing the street she had gazed at her whole life, she finally understood. So many events had occurred in plain view from Boo’s house.

The heat was devastating and many people decided to not go outside. Jem and I, however, ignored Atticus ' warnings about the heat, and left to go to see Dill. We passed by the Radley house, no longer afraid of Boo, after all, he had saved our lives. I could still clearly remembering the events of that day, but when I brought up the topic with Jem, he would ignore me, and change the subject. “Jem?”

-Summary for Ch. 11-15 (AT LEAST FOUR SENTENCES): In chapters 11-15, Jem did not know much about Mrs. Dubose but Atticus said that she was the bravest person he knew as she died of her illness. Cal took Scout and jem to a black church and some didn't quite welcome them to their church but they learned some new things about the difference in races.
Journal #5 I am reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee and I am on page 376. This book is about a girl named Scout who lives with brother Jem, aunt Alexandra, and father Atticus. The kids have learned a lot from the experiences with people in the town like Boo Radley and Tom Robinson. When Tom died it affects the whole town for a little bit. When the kids were attacked by Bob Ewell, but Boo Radley came to save them.
Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, explores concepts such as social inequality, racism, morals and values, coming of age, and perspective. The story follows two children, Jem and Scout, as they experience being raised in Maycomb County, Alabama. So why did Lee choose the title: To Kill a Mockingbird?
Although it is clear to a lot of people who live in Maycomb that Tom Robinson did not actually rape Mayella Ewell the judge still goes on and decides he is guilty. This is truly not fair. Atticus explains to Jem, “No jury in this part of the world’s going to say, We think you’re guilty, but not very, on a charge like that. It was either a straight acquittal or nothing.”
Tom was accused of raping a white woman who was Mayella Ewell, Mayella said he raped her while he was helping her with chores. She later on tells the readers that it was false allegations. The reason why she didn 't tell the truth at her first trial was because, Mayella was afraid of being embarrassed because she kissed a black male. She rather have an innocent man get charged with a crime than that. “However, Robinson was transferred from the state prison to Maycomb 's county jail on Saturday, two days before he stood trial on Monday, and Atticus had to defend him against a lynch mob”.
During the exposition of To Kill a Mockingbird, Lee portrays Boo Radley as the ghost of a wild, foolish troglodyte. Time and time again, the people of Maycomb recount of his reckless childhood. One story, the tale of a young Arthur along with his “enormous and confusing tribe” (12), gives a prime example. As usual, the
They try to escape but Jem’s arm gets broken and he is unconscious for the rest of the novel. Luckily, they are rescued by Boo Radley and are taken home where Jem gets treated. Bob Ewell figured that attacking Atticus’s children was the next best thing to hurting him, since he was too much of a coward to do it directly. He had a grudge against Atticus for doing a good job of defending a black man, which was unthinkable given the status of black people during that time period. Through this, Scout learns firsthand about hatred.
In the passage Jem and Scout walk home during the dark hours, giving Bob Ewell an opportunity to stage an attack. As Bob Ewell attacks them Boo Radley rushes in to rescue Jem and Scout. After this Scout now understands what Atticus meant it is a sin to kill a mockingbird. The killing of a mockingbird is much like killing the innocent. It is beyond a crime and worse than the most heinous atrocities.
