“It’s a sin to kill a Mockingbird.. (119)” This is a quote from the renowned book ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ said by the character Atticus Finch to the main character's brother Jem Finch. Atticus says this to Jem because he doesn't want him to shoot the innocent birds or things. Mockingbirds are kindred souls, they’re wonderful creatures who don’t do anything but sing their divine songs. Furthermore mockingbirds are everywhere in life far and wide, but mockingbirds aren’t just birds, they can also be human. A brilliant example of a human mockingbird is a character from the book itself Tom Robinson. Tom Robinson is a young African-American man who had a kind and giving personality, in the book he is taken to trial by a young white woman for a horrible act he didn't commit. When he was found guilty because of racial beliefs, he got scared and ran in doing so he was shot at with intention of injury but instead had been killed. The LGBTQ+ community just want to love who they choose as well as be the individual they aspire to be. Loving who they choose does not involve bothering or harming complete random strangers; however this minority is discriminated against on the basis of personal religion or beliefs and some just think that LGBTQ+ are just mentally-ill. Furthermore this can connect to Tom Robinson as well as Arthur Radley on how they were discriminated against, Tom through racism and personal beliefs and Arthur through misconception. Mockingbirds don’t go out of their way to harm others, they just sing their hearts out. The LGBTQ+ just want to be who they are and love who they want to love which is why the community are
