The bird-dog, Tim Johnson, is a representation of racism and discrimination, while the hunted Mockingbird is a representative of Tom Robinson, who falls victim to the behavior of “bird-dog” or the racial discrimination in his court “…… the pet of Maycomb.” (Lee 105) Tim Johnson describes like the infected dog, and the author Carolyn Jones said that the racism is “usual disease” of the Maycomb’s citizen, and it also makes them unreasonable and dangerous “Like the dog infected with rabies. The people of Maycomb's, ‘usual disease,' racism, which makes them just as irrational and just as dangerous as Tim Johnson.” (Jones 3-4) In Tom Robinson’s court, all the people in Maycomb County were anger that Atticus would help a black person by honestly representing Robinson in a Court as his attorney, “When Atticus makes his summation to the jury, he literally bares himself to the jury's and the town's anger: he "unbuttoned his vest, unbuttoned his collar, loosened his tie, and took off his coat.” (Jones 12) Before the start of the court, Atticus was approached by a group of people who want the intention of injuring Tom Robinson, including Walter Cunningham. But Atticus always was defending Tom; however, Tom fails in this court because of irrational decisions due

Harper Lee caused herd behavior in "To Kill a Mockingbird" when Atticus disrupted the ways of Maycomb by defending an African American. First, mob mentality, or herd behavior, refers to the tendancy of people to do over reactive things that they would not normally do with others. This tells us that people will act differently when they are part of a mob. When someone joins a mob, they can lose their individuality and adopt a mob mentality, such as killing a person. In chapter fifteen of "To Kill a Mockingbird", the mob outside the jailhouse were planning to kill Tom Robinson so their would be no trial.

The argument between Atticus and Mr.Gilmer was about Tom Robinson to find out if he truly raped and abused Mayella. In the argument between them both used Logos, Ethos, and Pathos.
Mayella wins the case, but is Mayella truly powerful? Although Mayella is powerless when it comes between class and gender, her race is the ultimate power to end Tom Robinson. Mayella Ewell’s family struggles from poverty. She lacks power because if her lower class status, the Ewell’s lived behind the town’s garbage dump in what was once a Negro cabin [Doc A]. I can tell To Kill A Mockingbird takes place during the 1930’s because of the allusions made in it. In the book, they also use words that we do not normally use in our average daily vocabulary; Some examples would be on page 36 when they use words such as “fer”, “reckon”, and “ain’t”. Back in the twentieth century, they used multiple words that we do not use as much nowadays. Furthermore, I can tell the book takes place during the 1930’s is because of an allusion made on page 46 when Jem refers to Indian-heads. Indian-heads were pennies before the Lincoln penny came about.
In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee the term mockingbird symbolizes innocence in a person. In the novel it focuses on the fact that innocence, represented by the mockingbird, can be wrongfully harmed. There are two characters: Tom Robinson and Arthur “Boo” Radley that are supposed to represent the mockingbird. In the novel, Tom Robinson is the best example of a mockingbird because he is prosecuted for a crime he did not commit. Also, he was judged unfairly based on the color of his skin in his trial.
Myrtles are hearty and solid, able to withstand environmental stress. Myrtle does not live in large mansion, but in the dismal Valley of Ashes, above her husband’s financially struggling garage. Although these two flowers may seem different, there is a very important similarity. Both the daisy and the myrtle have green leaves. The color green symbolizes life and money.

Claim: Atticus also shows courage especially when he represents a black man in a racist town.
In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, the mockingbird is a metaphor for Tom Robinson. While mockingbirds are discussed in the novel as literal birds that harmlessly sing and entertain, Lee clearly uses the mockingbird to symbolize Tom Robinson. One reason that supports this idea is a Robinson is a innocent man who tried to help someone but then was convicted of rape. Another reason that supports the metaphor is Tom, the innocent songbird, was put on trial for his life and was convicted guilty. This inhuman action of murdering an innocent and harmless man who wanted to help is like the killing of a harmless songbird.both are innocent, and both murders are wrong.
In Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, Lee took the minor character of Mayella Ewell and made her into a sympathetic role to her readers in a latent way. Mayella's life at home is told through the story's background and foreshadowing references. This is how Lee made Mayella memorable enough to the reader to know who she is and her family situation without needing her point of view of her side of the story. Once Mayella enters the storyline, her actions will become understandable to the reader and generate sympathy. One way Lee makes Mayella a sympathetic character is how before entering her into the story, one of Mayella's younger siblings was introduced.
