Shakespeare’s quote this above all, to thine own self be true is a perfect advice that tells us how to act, know and love ourselves as human beings. This quote is the best to make the people not confident about themselves understand that being honest to oneself is the most important. It is really amazing to find how many of us are not true to ourselves. We depend on other people’s opinion to find who we actually are and who we should become like. There are many people who have many creative ideas or great morals and thoughts, but are scared to express themselves for the fear of being laughed at by others. Many people lie all the time to themselves and pretend to be someone else in front of others just to be like them. Some people even change their likes and dislikes in front of others just to be accepted by them. The dishonesty in people, which they show to themselves is the biggest flaw in human beings. Showing honesty to yourself and saying that “yes I am who I am and I will not change myself for anyone” is the most important. …show more content…
We all have flaws but you need to overlook them in yourself and in others. Yes I am a bookworm and I love to read story books. Yes I love photography and I want to become a wildlife photographer. yes I am not good in art but I still love to paint and sketch. Yes I am a girl but I love to watch action movies, play action games and racing games on my computer. I love to watch football and I don’t like to use make up like the other girls. This is who I am and this is who I will be. i will continue to be the imperfect me. We all have flaws and nobody is perfect. Insecurities will still be there and it will be hard to overcome. “This above all: To thine own self be true.” I will live by this forever, with my heart, with my mind, with my words and with my soul. I will forever be true to myself and never change myself to become someone
“To be human is to be beautifully flawed. ”(Eric Wilson). All humans are flawed. That is what makes them human. Flaws sometimes are hurtful, but they make the character interesting.
Throughout life, we sometimes don't take the time to think about what comes out of our mouth. We feel the need to tell a falsehood to make ourselves look better or feel better. After all, we don't want to accept the harsh truth of reality that is lives are not perfect. Sometimes we even forget why we're even lying at all. However, we are not alone as human begins it's in our nature to lie.
Stephanie Ericsson begins her explorative essay, “The Ways We Lie,” with a personal anecdote of all the lies she fabricated in one day. She told her bank that a deposit was in the mail when it was not, told a client that the traffic had been bad when she was late for other reasons, told her partner that her day was fine when it was really exhausting, and told her friend she was too busy for lunch when she just was not hungry, all in the course of a day. She shifts from talking about herself to talking about everyone, claiming that all people lie, exaggerate, minimize, keep secrets, and tell other lies. But, like herself, most still consider themselves honest people. She describes a week in which she tried to never tell a lie; it was debilitating, she claims.
Which is saying that we should not copy others and think for ourselves because if we copy others we should just commit suicide. A clear example of this is from the Twilight zone episode named Number 12 Looks Just Like You. This example is about Marilyn Cuberle that once she turns 19 she has to be conformed into society by looking like the rest but she refuses to be one of them because of how her dad had the transformation and afterwards regret and
Respect is a big part of our lives still. Although the presence of many of the virtuous Native American values is very meager today, this one still exists as a miniscule glimmer across our lives. One must have respect for others to first have respect for themselves. You make a choice of how people will see you: as a incorrigible person, or as a respectful person. People will usually treat you accordingly.
In this quote, William Shakespeare is portraying the importance of self trueness. Over everything else, people should only be true to themselves. Today, it is very common for people to try and impress others by changing their own ethics. If a person has to change the way they act to make someone like them, that person should not be around those types of individuals. Only one person can really make himself or herself happy, and that is their own self.
" I think that this quote is saying that we need to be able to handle our own issues and learn about ourselves before we can deal with others. Another step I took was have all of my family members look at my project and paper to give me their input on what they like and what I need to change. I also looked up little things that I thought
The point is that one should constantly be proud of who he/she is and not try to hide it. One should be proud of being a good friend, be proud of who he/she is, be proud of oneself every time he/she makes a good decision, be proud of all the small things one has accomplished, be proud of one’s unique strengths, and do not leave it to another person to make one feel like ‘he/his is enough’; leave it to oneself. Also, there are advantages to this. By being proud of who one is, one’s confidence skyrockets, one becomes honest and likeable. Life becomes worth living, and nearly stress-free.
Steve Marabli once said, “Love yourself. Forgive yourself. Be true to yourself. How you treat yourself sets the standard for
The Impact of C.S. Lewis on American culture. “True humility is not thinking less of yourself, it 's thinking of yourself less” (C.S. Lewis) Clive Staples Lewis was a great writer who impacted many lives by his books. Lewis lived from 1898 to 1963 in Oxford. Over Thinking and Its Effects On Society Everyone has flaws and flaws are great to have as it increases diversity, but sometimes flaws some flaws can lead to destruction. In the story of Macbeth the tragic flaw of unchecked ambition that created a monstrous Macbeth and multiple murders of innocent people, leading to Macbeth’s unruly power and greed. While in the story of Hamlet the tragic flaw of overthinking and Hamlet’s procrastination resulted in a domino effect of unnecessary deaths because he was unable to think quickly and follow through with his plan. My Self-Concept My self-concept includes a number of different adjectives and roles, these include both good and bad things. The adjectives I use to describe myself are as follows: kind, loyal, selfish, hard working, apathetic, practical, honest, occasionally rude, and procrastinator. As for the roles that I fill, I am a son, a brother, a friend, a student, the oldest son, and a teacher. Self-concept is a product of many things, it is not just simply what a person is.
