here is no doubt that the Ming dynasty made a very noticeable imprint in the departments of culture, science, and technology. The emperor Zhu Yuanzhang refined the military, along with political and other systems. During the Ming era when Emperor Chengzu ruled , foreign relations were fortified which helped and expanded cultural and economic tradings between the differing countries. In the department of architecture and engineering, probably considered to be the greatest achievements of the Ming empire was the building and finishing of the Great Wall along with the restoration of the Great Canal. A lot of add ons and repairs were made to the Great Wall even though, the walls construction had begun in an earlier time period. The great wall
The Great Wall was constructed by the Qin and Han dynasties. they built the Great Wall to be protected by the Xiongnu. However the benefits of building the Great Wall didn't outweigh the costs. According to Document C, evidence supports my claim by stating," According to poetry and legend, tens of thousands of soldiers died from hunger, sickness, and extreme heat or cold." This shows how the loss of soldiers happened by constructing the Great Wall they could've just have more soldiers protect around China.
#1 - Time/Length When Emperor Qin had the idea of building the sheer size wall that was built to increase security, impress visitors, and enhance the glory of china came with patience and a long time. It took over 2,500 years to complete the construction of the wall! According to the background essay’s timeline, so many segments of the wall have been started by different dynasties. They were always being extended, or torn down to repair and built anew. The first dynasty to start the wall was the Qin.
The era of the Han dynasty in China, simply referred to as ‘Han China,’ was an extremely prominent one, with power that almost rivaled the Romans themselves. During this period of China, achievements and accomplishments reached new heights as the Silk Road opened, which allowed connection with the western world. However, even with all this, Han China still fell, thanks to opposing forces in the form of nomadic tribes, several natural disasters that were interpreted as angry messages from the gods, and internal/political unrest. During the Han dynasty and the opening of the Silk Road, there were several aggressive, nomadic tribes that centered around the Asian area.
Did you know that the great wall of China is over 4000 miles long. Though the wall maybe long, it was a giant waste. This waste of resources took over 2500 years to build. The wall is the most expensive of the 7 greatest wonders of the world. The great wall cost lives, resources, and tribute.
The Great Wall was constructed thousands of years ago. It was built over a span of 2,000 years and measures to be over 5,400 miles long. Over the 2,000 years of its construction, many dynasties would help construct it. Some of them were the Qin and Han dynasties. The wall would act as a barrier to help keep enemy’s out.
They reinforced and expanded the Great Wall of China (video) continuously throughout their dynasty’s reign. Much of the Great Wall as we know it today was built during the Ming dynasty.
Dear Emperor Qin I think building the Great Wall was a very bad idea. The Great Wall is a wall built to protect the citizens. Some people want the Great Wall to be there but, I don't think it is a good idea. They are wrong because a lot of people died and a lot of other things happened.
Roads and canals were used by the Yuan for trade and benefitted their economy greatly. Also the military technology invented by the Yuan benefitted their military domination greatly. For example the gunpowder bomb was a weapon of war used that could efficiently kill enemies. While also the Yuan created things for self pleasure and entertainment, like playing cards and dominoes. Though the Yuan dynasty is not known for its innovations during this period.
The ruler Han Gaozu changed many laws and polices and “promoted the welfare of its subjects”(p.81) unlike the ruler Qin. After the Han Dynasty there was not another great dynasty four hundred years later after the fall of the Han
The Great Wall of China—started in 221 BCE during the Qin dynasty, was built to keep the northern invaders from attacking China. This 5,488 miles long wall was built over a 2,000 year period by dynasties that devoted their time in its construction. While it did provide benefits such as protection and spread ideas to other empires, it wasn’t enough to outweigh the costs of money, lives, and isolation from families. Chinese people feared their archenemy—the Xiongnu, thinking that they will conquer China. They decided to build a massive wall to keep them away from taking over, but also wanted to keep a peaceful relationship.
Zhu Yuanzhang led a very strong and powerful army to take control of the Yuan Dynasty and they were successful. That led them to gain power. They consolidated by trading and it was even more beneficial to them since they were in Asia and near the water so it was easy for them to use boats to travel and trade. They also secured their borders from their enemies by building the Great Wall of China. They managed to maintain power by allowing everyone in the empire freedom of religion and fair rules and they had good economic income from trading.
The Great Wall was made by the Qin and Han dynasty's to keep out invaders and other enemies. The benefits did outweigh the cost because it kept your city protected, it was harder for invaders to attack. They also put troops in the frontier areas of the Wall to increase the security level. According to document A it states that "the government will construct walled cities, well protected by high walls, deep moats, catapults, and thorns." This shows that the Qin and Han wanted to make it harder for the mongols to attack and that china wanted to be prepared for when other dangerous situations happen.
First, the benefits outweigh the costs because the great wall provided protection. Emperor Qin believed that China neede more protection so his workers built the great wall. This building process was passed onto several dynasties to pass. The great wall was 13,171 miles long, and 30 feet wide. The Great wall of China protected China from Mongols, and invaders.
Wood block printing became even more advanced than it was in the Ming era and the Opera became well known in the world of Chinese fine arts. During the reign of the Qing which was about 270 years, they controlled over 13 million square kilometers of land. This dynasty also created the Kangxi dictionary in the Kangxi emperor era. The Ming dynasty experienced a great deal of tragedy which led to the fall of their reign.
This is because there were many advantages. For example, It had kept out unwanted people. What I mean is it had made it very hard for invaders or countries who wanted to start a war; to get through or over the great wall. Another example is the fact that it had saved many crops and valuables from getting stolen from other countries. China has always been known to grow or make things that many other countries like so this wall helped those things from not being stolen or destroyed.
