Hunting is necessary on the island; it is a vital source of food. Killing a pig for food was not what led to the boy’s downfall; the problems arose when the boys started to make a game out of it. There are necessary evils, such as killing animals for food, that Piggy does not acknowledge in his question. In “Good and Evil,” Gibran almost exclusively focuses on the area between good and evil. In one of his examples of being neither good nor evil, Gibran writes, “You are good when you walk to your goal firmly and with bold steps / Yet you are not evil when you go thither limping / Even those who limp go not backward” (Gibran 22-24).
But he can do anything you tell him” (22). This quote explains that George was lying about how Lennie got his disability, just so he can make the boss think that he was not born unintelligent. It reveals that George really wants the job, so he tries to make him and Lennie great candidates for the position. On the other hand, Candy’s dog has been living with Candy for a very long time, but can’t live much longer due to his poor health. When George and Lennie see Candy’s dog for the first time, the author describes him as, “And at his heels there walked a dragfooted sheepdog, gray of muzzle, and with pale, blind old eyes” (24).

The only reason he did that was because he thought it was the right thing to do. His dad got injured while in the mines, therefore Sonny made the decision to take over while his dad healed. He later realized that he loved trying to build a rocket and went back to doing what he loved most. In The Pact the boys were surrounded by a bunch of people who didn’t do the right thing and that did drugs. Because of those people the boys had a hard time making sure that they stayed out of trouble.
He is caring because he felt bad for not having quality ingredients to make better meals for the orphans. He displayed courageousness when he went against the rules of the orphanage and became a luchador so he could possibly win the prizes that were given to the winners. Nacho was considerate of the orphans’ needs by using the money that he received from the match to buy better food and a bus for field trips. After watching the movie, I have
Christopher attempted to break off all connections with his father and reunited with his mother. The problem with this was that Christopher and his mother do not get along anywhere near as well as him and his father. His father has the patience and tolerance to deal with Christopher’s special conditions that his mother just did not. Naturally, Christopher and his father would have to end up fixing the broken relationship. His father makes a massive headway when he replaces Christopher’s pet rat, Toby, with a golden retriever puppy that he named Sandy.
Lastly, Pi’s ability to hunt and prepare food gave him the advantage over Richard Parker and allowed them to build an unspoken bond. Pi was deathly afraid of getting eaten by Richard Parker which was a drive for him to catch food. Pi believes that if Richard Parker wasn't on the lifeboat with him, he wouldn't have put such a large effort into collecting food and water: “[W]ithout Richard Parker, I wouldn’t be alive today to tell you my story”(Martel 182). Without Richard Parker's presence, Pi would have not put the effort into surviving as much as he did. The bond was less of a friendship and more of a companionship.

Troy has always been tough with Cory which makes him think that he doesn’t like him. Troy had a dream of becoming a baseball player which he has never achieved so he is envious and keeps Cory from having the opportunity of being recruited for football. Cory comes home one night to Troy sitting down on the steps drinking and singing in the backyard and tells him to get out of his way. Troy advises Cory that if he needs to go inside then he must say excuse me because it is his house that he bought and paid for. As he tries to walk past him, Troy shoves him back and Cory yells “I live here too.” As they continue to argue, Cory admits that he has been afraid of Troy.
Yeah, I'm not so sure about this. Oh, I thought we decided. I'm sorry. Well I guess we don't have a choice.” (“Into Fat Air”) Peter’s quick decision to begin eating the boy shows his way of living in the moment and making choices that don’t necessarily make sense. Perhaps if the family had kept trying to make it down, they would have and wouldn’t have needed to become cannibals.

The survivors have no compassion in general and for other people. Shin was born and raised in the camp, so his thoughts were created based on what the government guards taught him. After living in the camp for all his life, he finally was free, but his way of thinking or how he acted could not be changed. Shin was still haunted by the nightmares of his mother and brother’s execution as he was “evolving from being an animal”, as well as having other symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. “...he mentioned a ‘dead space’ inside him, which he said made it difficult for him to feel much of anything.
Odysseus’s actions in Book 10 show that while his men can be rather foolish, he still cares for them. This is seen by how he goes back into Circe’s mansion after the first group of men are changed into pigs in order to save them despite the dangers as shown here “how could any man in his right mind endure the taste of food and drink before he’d freed his comrades in arms?” (Homer 242: 10: 424-425). If Odysseus did not care about his men he would not go back to save them despite his helplessness. When he first went to the house of Circe, he didn’t have any way to combat her which meant that he was going on a suicide mission to save his men if Hermes hadn’t shown up to prevent him from dying at her hands. Their actions show that while they
