Tom has some positive qualities and negative qualities. Tom doesn’t have a lot of positive qualities. Some of his positive qualities are that he paints the fence for Aunt Polly, he is smart about how to do bad things. In the book the author writing something about Tom helping paint the fence. The author writes, “ ...I’ll fetch the water if you’ll whitewash some.” In other words, he is “listening” to what Aunt Polly tells him to. This quote develops Tom’s character by revealing he needs some help painting the fence. Tom has a lot of negative qualities.
