1.1. Introduction With increased arrival of tourists to India travel and Tourism has become an integral part of India. Tourism Industry is a multibillion industry in India and the liveliest tertiary activity. Driven by the focus on innovation and creating value for tourists, India has emerged as a popular tourist destination in the world. It succeeded in changing the attitude and the way we look at the foreign tourists by emphasizing on the aspect that a guest has been held in high respect in India since ancient times. Tourism in India has grown over the years with each region of India contributing something to its glory. India is ranked 11th in the Asia Pacific Region and 62nd overall as the world’s most attractive tourist destinations by the Travel and Tourism competitiveness Report conducted by the World Economic Forum. The Tourism ministry of the Government has also played significant role in the development of the industry by introducing campaigns such as the 'Incredible India ' campaign, which stimulated India 's culture and tourist attractions in a different and impressive way. The campaign directly led to an increase in the interest among the tourists as it helped to create a vibrant image of India in the minds of consumers all over the world .

In this paper I will demonstrate that ethical tourism is the better option that guarantees a stable economic growth while keeping cultural integrity and environmental protection. Even though mass tourism accounts for the rise in employment and gross national product, its economic benefits become marginal as social and environmental costs increase. I will show that ecotourism and pro-poor tourism, as forms of ethical and responsible tourism, contribute to the conservation of the wildlife heritage and to the development of a sustainable growth. Mass tourism concerns all those activities that include shifting of large groups of tourists, high volume of sales, utilization of holiday packages and development of infrastructure and transportation systems. After the second World War, mass tourism increased substantially.
The main concept is to provide number of quality services to the tourists, who planned their trip through a travel and tourism firm. There are number of services that tourists are eligible and bound to receive as they had spend money while travelling from one place to another. Tourism is the industry in which passenger contacts their tour operator to get what he/she dreams of for their holiday. A sustainable and responsible approach to tourism means that neither the natural environment nor the socio-cultural organisation of the host communities would be compromised by the arrival of tourists.
The field of tourism promotion deals with marketing tourism services using various promotional tools. A tourism degree program combines the marketing disciplines, business and personnel management pertaining to managing tourism businesses. Some degree programs and specialisations offer training specifically in tourism promotions. Tourism is travel for business or leisure purposes. A tourist is a person who travels outside his city, state or country for business or leisure purposes for more than 24 hours and not more than one consecutive year.
Tourism is a growth industry very rapidly now. With the rapid development of technology that also acts as a support person easily reach the distance around the world in shorter lead times and relatively safer. The most rapid growth in the global tourism industry provides benefits as well as challenges for the state government. Expressed simply, sustainable tourism can be defined as: "Tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and host communities" (UNWTO, 2012). Tourism industry is the idea of attracting, accommodating, and pleasing groups or individual travelling for pleasure or business. For example hotels, restaurants, and tour guides. Five sectors in tourism industry, which is including accommodation, food & beverage services, recreation & entertainment, transportation and travel services.
Therefore, tourism may be defined as the activities, processes and outcomes by the relationship and interaction among the tourist, government, suppliers of the tourism, the host communities and the environment that surrounding the destination which involved in attracting and accommodating of the visitors (Goeldner & Ritchie, 2009). According to Goelner & Ritchie (2009), there are four different perspectives of tourism can be identified from the tourist, business operator who providing goods and services, government of the host destination area and the local community. The first group is the tourists or visitors. They are the group who search for various travel experiences and satisfaction physically and psychologically.
The expenditures spent by the tourists, the import and export of the related goods generate income to the national economy and can further stimulate the investment necessary to finance growth in other economic sectors of country. Some of the countries such as Bhutan seek to accelerate the finance growth by requiring the visitors to pay certain amount of foreign currency per day of their stay and it is not refundable. For some of the regions or countries, tourism is an important source of their welfare as it is the main source. If the country is a remote island, the way to build up the country economy is mainly dependent on their tourism industrial. According to the World Travel & Tourism Council on year 2012, the country that ranked first in the top tourism-dependent countries is Macau, which is an island on the western side of Pearl River Delta, China.

Socci expands on the definition by identifying ten primary sub-industries that combine to form a more aptly named tourism “cluster.” These sub-industries include: accommodation services; hotel and restaurant; food and beverage; land transport; water transport; rail transport; air transport; supporting transportation services; recreational, cultural, and sporting services; and retail and country-specific tourism (2016). In 2014, foreign tourism generated $1409 billion, which was 30% of global service exports (Filiposki, 2014).
The idea, “The customer is always right,” has become a general knowledge. In today’s world, this thinking has become obsolete. The hospitality industry has come to adopt that the customer comes first. That is why in terms of developing the hospitality product, the industry has been built to cater to the needs and wants of the customer.
