According to Northouse, “Transformational leadership involves an exceptional form of influence that moves followers to accomplish more than what is usually expected of them’’(p. 169). A clear example of transformational leaders are Martin Luther King, A. Hitler and Franklin D. Roosevelt. But, there are different types of leaders and leadership. Martin Luther King was an exceptional leader and fits perfectly with the definition of positive leadership . He inspired his followers and possessed the ability to motivate and to shape a new culture among his followers based on solid principles and ideals creating a favorable environment for change. Franklin D. Roosevelt’s success was his ability to trust, above all, teamwork and looking the best people to assume the charges and the most complicated and difficult positions . Always he provided support to its employees and projects designed having a group that kept motivated and engaged at all times. His visits to soldiers in Europe, even being ill served to show that life in front gambled that were all part of the same project and pursued the same purpose.

Roosevelt had everything against in many moments of his life, but was able to stake his intelligence and his ability to get overcome all difficulties and achieve its objectives, such as governor, president and world leader.
