A. There is several different leadership theories and they are the Great man theory means that leaders are born not made (Worth, 2009). Trait theory is that you can be a born leader or you can be taught to be a leader (Worth, 2009). Behavioral theories talk about two different behaviors task, which relate to the work to be done and relationship actions that deal with the feeling of others (Worth, 2009). Contingency theory that there is no single way of leading and that every leadership style should be based on certain situations (Worth, 2009). Transactional theory is the exchange of rewards and punishments, transactions made between the leader and the followers (Worth, 2009). Transformational theory is that this type of leadership transforms their followers through their inspirational nature and charismatic personalities (Worth, 2009). An appropriate theory to use to convince the board of the need to continue to provide the same type of human services to the community as they have been would be to use transformational leadership theory this theory talks about changing people through a process by which a person …show more content…

As we speak right now, someone across the world is being forced into labor or sexual interactions. Men are the minority in this case and not forced into this as much as women and children. Most of those children are girls of ages from eight to fourteen starting in this business. I highly doubt any of you know that human trafficking, the modern day slavery is worse today than it was during the Atlantic Slave Trade in the 1500’s. Human Trafficking is where traffickers forcefully control victims to make them engage in sex or labor against their will (Bales 1).
This literary piece “The Making and Unmaking of a child soldier” by Ishmael Beah, unravels aspects of the world often looked over. The book opens an eye on how child soldiers are used as spawn for civil wars for ruthless warlords over drug empires in Sierra Leone. Children are forced to become soldiers to serve for military and save their country, Sierra Leone. Child soldiers are also forced to work and there are many different jobs which are given to child soldiers.
It is the world’s fastest growing global crime that people are being bought, sold and smuggled for sexual exploitation, domestic servitude, bonded labour and even organ sacrifice ending up with death. The most tragic fact is 26% of the victims that are sucked into trafficking are children. In this violation of human rights’ grave, where persons have a price tag, anyone can be a victim. Human trafficking doesn’t discriminate on age, gender, race or religion. It is happening to humans, just like
TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP Transformational Leadership is defined as leadership style focused on effecting revolutionary change in organizations through a commitment to the organization’s vision. (Sullivan & Decker, 2001) Transformational leaders are usually given higher position and are known for their charismatic sense and ability to develop high visions and regards in the work they do. They often give their best performances due to the low morale or self esteem Example: Steve Job, Bill Gates and Ratan Tata. As the existentialist rightly said, we always have a choice, in doing what we already have done or doing that which we have never done.
According to the movie “Facing the Giant”, Transformational leadership theory can be clearly seen in the coach, Taylor. At the very beginning of the movie, the team, Shiloh, had lost their main player, Darren, this made the team become panic, frightened and their football level start dropping. After that, Taylor started to change his mindset, he start believing in his religion, speaking to his God and changing his attitude on facing problem. After all, he start to influence his followers, all the members of the football team, by changing their values, beliefs and attitudes. He set a new philosophy for the whole football team which is playing football is just only for win but also to give all out in the game and enjoy the game.
Child soldiers are a new international problem but an old situation. Child combatants are fighting in today’s wars, they are used by many types of groups from insurgencies to military forces. It was common for the armies of the world to recruit children into their ranks. This practice was abandoned when nations started to use professional armies instead of citizens to fight their wars. It has shifted to armed groups and recruitment of children.
The impact of children trafficking on the Children and their Communities presented “ It is very common that a majority of them quit schooling to work for their family’s survival.” This statement goes for older children. Obviously, the child wanted to support his or her family, but only found a job which he or she most likely did not know what it was about. “ Girls trafficked into prostitution are very unlikely to be provided with enough time and encouraging atmosphere to go to school, to study, or to develop other skills necessary for a career change,” said the Impact of children trafficking on the Children and their Communities. Because the girls do not have enough support or time they will most likely not want to study.
Domestic minor sex trafficking (DMST) occurs when minors are forced, coerced or otherwise involved in the commercial sex industry. The majority of people who are sex trafficked are females under the age of 18; Research suggests that the average age for a young girl to be recruited into prostitution is 12-14 years old. However, males are just as victimized by this crime as females. Victims of domestic minor sex trafficking often experience feelings of helplessness and self-hatred. They are also easy targets for sicknesses and infections; HIV and AIDS known to be prevalent.
Bass & Riggio (2005, pp. 4-8) explains that transformational leaders inspire their followers to exceed their own expectations and perceived capabilities and is comprised of the four components of idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualised consideration. DuBrin (2016, p.163) suggest that leaders in a time of crisis need to
Findings I wish to share the interesting story of Marcela Loaiza, one that I had found when researching information and news reports for this paper. Marcela Loaiza, is a Colombian native who was sold into a sex trafficking ring at the age of 21. This part of her life began when she was lured by a Colombian man to Japan, where she was taken by a Yakuza (Japanese gang) who then proceeded to tell her that she needed $50,000 in order to gain back her freedom and passport (Smith, 2014). Despite this occurring to her, she still had no idea that she had been trafficked, due to her lack of education and awareness for what trafficking even was. After being trapped and working as a prostitute in Japan for over 18 months, she was able to successfully
The month of April was designated National Child Abuse Prevention Month in 1983, refocusing the country’s efforts on its child abuse epidemic . However, since then, there has been little focus on the prevalent, yet hidden, subsector of child abuse: child sex trafficking. In 2017 alone, the National Human Trafficking Hotline received 2,495 reports of child sex trafficking . Therefore, during National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and every month, we must work toward the prevention of child sex trafficking as we do with any other case of child maltreatment. We must fight for the children whose exploitation was not prevented in the first place.
All of this without taking into account the dangerous work that these modern-day slaves may experience when taking a survey of tracking survivors in Southeast Asia, they found “Nearly half (48%) reported physical or sexual abuse and 22% sustained severe injuries” (Zimmerman and Kiss Human trafficking and exploitation: A global health concern). The numbers represented in this essay detract from the actual amount of possible victims that may be out there. It is estimated that there are approximately 21 million trafficking victims in the world.
Human trafficking, or trafficking in persons (TIP) or modern day slavery, is a heinous and widespread crime occurring around the world in nearly every society. Most people often thought slavery was part of the past; however, human slavery is part of our current society and has been an on-going issue around the world. Human trafficking is a type of slavery that involves forced or bonded labour, sexual servitude, child labour, or involuntary servitude all over the world. It is important to note that sex trafficking contributes to more than half of human trafficking and most of these victims are women and young girls. This modern day slavery can happen to anyone, anywhere, and at anytime (Ton, 2012).This literature review of documents and reports
This paper will examine the three leadership theories, identify how they apply to my practice, and explore how these theories interact with each other. The Trait Leadership Theory is based on the belief that a person is born with special traits contributing to natural leadership abilities. Studies of famous historical leaders have been used to identify various traits for this theory. Although the list of traits differs from study to study, there are five major traits that are consistent throughout most studies.
In recent years, there has been an exponential increase of interest in human trafficking in the sex trade. Many have described it as “modern day sex slavery” (Logan, Walker and Hunt, 2009). Discourses around the issue centers around the dismay that vulnerable young people from rural areas of developing countries. These people are susceptible to being duped to developed countries with the false premise of a better life and higher income (Huijsmans and Baker, 2012). Using trickery and threats, women are being recruited, transported and exploited for their bodies.
