Transport Malta Mission Statement: “The Authority’s mission is to promote and develop the transport sector in Malta by means of proper regulation and by promotion and development of related services, businesses and other interests both locally and internationally.” The Land Transport Directorate – Traffic Management and Road Safety Department Traffic accidents in Malta occur every thirty minutes. According to the ‘Energy Transport and Environment Indicators’ issued by Eurostat in 2012, Malta has the 4th lowest rate of road fatalities amongst the (27) EU member states. Having said that, there is still room for improvement, especially when one considers that Malta does not have any high speed motorways and highways. An average of three …show more content…
It is also an element of enforcement and on educating drivers to use front and rear seat-belts and other safety equipment, safer vehicles on the roads and an overall improvement in the behaviour and attitude towards safe driving. All these will lead to the reduction of traffic fatalities and injuries. The following is an analysis of the road accident data, which data is collected by the Malta Police and analysed by Transport Malta and the National Statistics Office (NSO). This data analysis will lead to a better and more in-depth understanding of the challenges being faced. The data within this document was acquired from TM through the NSO. Death and serious injuries should not be considered as inevitable when travelling by road. Road accidents will continue to occur because people will always make mistakes no matter how well instructed and informed they may be, however we do not have to accept a transportation system that allows people to be killed or severely injured. Through the process of educating road users and the enforcing of road rules to encourage safe behavior, a holistic approach will be demanded to addressing the road safety challenges on the road network. Hence the speeds at which we travel, the safety of the vehicle we use and the level of protection of the roads are to be combined and managed to ensure that when collisions occur these do not result in fatalities or grievous injuries. To achieve these targets an effort to improve the quality of the roads, to have safer vehicles, to improve compliance with legislation and road rules and to promote a road safety culture at all levels of
On 10-14-2015, at approximately 1600 hours, I was notified by Sgt. E. Kelley, # 2154, of a traffic crash involving life threatening injuries. on Lumsden Road, east of Providence Road. The crash was reported via 911 at 1456 hours.
Easterbrook explains why the program of road fatalities is being ignored by society (1). According to Gregg Easterbrook’s article, “Road Kill”, he writes that “the first fundamental difference between harm because of accidents and harm because of deliberate action; the second, society’s strange assumption that traffic fatalities cannot be avoided” (1). He writes that, because, unlike terrorism, car crashes were planned to cause harm. Easterbrook writes that
Sun Country Health Region prides themselves on their vision, mission, and goals. Their mission states that “Sun Country Health Region Authority works together with individuals and communities in partnership to achieve the best possible care, experience and health” (Sun Country Health Region Website). The region also has a number of goals to which the organization values greatly when it comes to how the agency operates in both therapy departments in Weyburn and Estevan. The goals the health region has, which will be covered more in depth later in this report include, “better health, better care, better teams, and better values” (Sun Country Health Region Website). During the time spent here in the therapies department, it has become apparent
Gregg Easterbrook, a fellow of the Brookings Institution and author of The Progress Paradox, argues in his article “Road Kill,” that people in the United States are not paying attention to a major killer: our roads. In his essay, Easterbrook explains the lack of attention to the threat of road accidents, even comparing it to 9/11, which has become a serious threat to Americans on the road, and even worldwide. Many Americans dismiss the problem, even though it is huge even if it is not perceived as a huge threat like terrorism. Some causes of the rise in accident casualties proposed by Easterbrook are distracted driving and the rapid increase of horsepower. Easterbrook proposes multiple solutions to the problem, such as increased legislation on distracted driving and reducing horsepower in cars (A1-4).
Despite being terribly disputed, cadavers have created nice contributions to the evolution of automobile safety, specific with reference to windshields and steering wheels. Later, Roach meets with the injury analyst UN agency investigated the crash of TWA flight 800. Here she learns, however the mixture wounds suffered by deceased passengers will tell the story of what happened within the moments simply before AN air disaster. Roach observes the method cadavers square measure utilized in analysis involving weapons and ballistics. though society frowns on such a factor, the author sees that such study is undertaken for humanitarian functions.
Hence, this is a sentimental event because this unanticipated event resulted in death to a patient, not related to the natural source of the patient's illness. Therefore, the threat and error management model should be used to determine both training needs and organizational strategies to improve the management of threats to safety. What defenses in the system failed in this case? Can you construct a Swiss cheese analysis of the system defenses and what occurred?
According to National Motorist Association if speed limits were raised and all lanes were moving the same speed, traffic would move so much smoother because it is assumed that everyone has an ideal speed at which they feel comfortable on the freeway and all those people on the freeways driving at that ideal comfortable speed will improve traffic flow. This will not only get you to your destination faster, but it will keep everyone of you safe. The National Motorist Association conducted an experiment in New York and results showed a reduction in automobile accidents. So I think that if Germany and the study in New York proved the reduction in accidents, then I will definitely work throughout the rest of the
Explain the purpose of confirming instructions and requirements for business travel and accommodation The main purpose of confirming the details of any bookings made to the person are to ensure that they are aware of the arrangements you have made on their behalf and that if there is anything wrong these can hopefully be changed before the date of travel. Giving the person the details of where they are going, staying and the method of transport and times of travel. If you check back with the person then you are less likely to make an error when booking (which could be costly if you get it wrong, as incorrect bookings are often not refundable). This gives them all the key information they need to then plan or prepare for their journey, as everything
The many hundreds of injuries encountered on the daily caused big challenges for transporting patients. Surgeons had to deal with the horror of being on the battle field while searching
Paramedics play an important role in emergency response, They provide life-saving care and support to those in need. Despite their essential role, paramedics face difficult challenges that are quite frankly unnoticed by society. Not only are they exposed to traumatic situations daily, but they also experience physical, emotional, and psychological traumas that can have long-term impacts on their well-being. In this essay, I will give an insight to the types of traumas that paramedics go through, and show that greater awareness and support is needed to address the difficult challenges of this profession.

This means that our governments should invest in redesigning our road, highways and freeways to cope with high speed limits. High speed limits do not mean that our road has become unsafe, but their design is not appropriate for certain new speed limits. Our roads have been the same for many years and have not been updated for decades. In addition to that, the reckless driving, lack of driving and road maturity is causing hundreds of causalities yearly. The drivers on the road lack respect, gratefulness and gratitude to other drivers and that’s why accidents are occurring.
Speed limits are vital to ensure people’s safety, both the driver’s and surrounding pedestrians. The most common cause of road accidents are because of speeding. The higher speed increases the chance of an accident. Enforcing speed limits may help prevent accident that occur on roads. Statistics show the Each year over 700 people are killed in crashes involving someone exceeding the speed limit.
Lien Nguyen November, 13 Professional Communication Professor Barrett Outline Persuasive speech Yearly Driving Tests Specific purpose: To convince my audience that yearly driving tests should be mandatory for the first five years after getting a license. Central idea: Yearly driving test must be mandatory for the first year because it will help to reduce the number of road accident.
The problems caused by speed limits on the highways can not only be solved by looking at the many mistakes in thinking that people have about speed but by looking at the many advantages of no speed limits on
