Redesigning the Football Helmet Head to head contact is a very serious matter. Kids, adults, and everyone in between are getting hurt in football due to the hard hits they take either in practice or games. The goal is to make football safer but people are still getting hurt and even killed. There are new helmets coming out every year but still not eliminating the problem.

Junior year of highschool Zack was the start defesive possition on varity, during homecoming peprally game he was struck head first to the ground after he was tackled. After the couch called timeout due to zack rocking back and forth in pain he pusshed it off and was back on for 3rd quarter. Befreo second half could end zack collaped on the feild and was rushed to the hospital where doctors had to remove both left and right side of his scull to relive pressure iniside the brain. After that trajic night zack has been expereincing several sesures daily and was sadlly in a coma for 3 months, 4 weeks in a nersing home and childrens hopitals. Zakc was not able to walk of eat on his own or do any daily activity until 4 years went by.
Concussions are considered functional, because it only affects the biochemical process of the brain, but the trauma changes the brain function temporarily. Although, in sports like football, repeated head to head contact can lead to long term brain damage. Many former football player’s have suffered from long term head injuries, this lead to things such as, “ long-term health consequences of concussion, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Alzheimer 's disease, and other forms of dementia, Parkinson 's disease, or severe cognitive impairment.” according to Weil(2016). When suffering from a concussion, you must deal with many symptoms such as, brief loss of consciousness after the injury, memory problems, drowsiness or feeling sluggish, confusion, dizziness, double vision or blurred vision, nausea, headache,or vomiting, sensitivity to light or noise, balance problems, and slowed reaction to stimuli.

Current players are more at risk because the game of football is becoming more violent and players are getting injured more often(Vrentas). But the public 's problem is not just with the NFL but also with middle school, high school, and college football because it is at that age when the players are most at risk(Barra).
