Treacher Collins is considered a disease or a syndrome that effects the growth development of your facial muscles and tissue structure. The disease does not affect your mental health or growth, but will allow humans to look different than others. Sometimes they are severely affected and sometimes it is hardly noticeable. The syndrome is something that is not passed down through sexual reproduction or asexual. Treacher Collins is a disease that is caused from a genetic mutation in the TCOFI, POLRIC, and POLRID gene. Some symptoms are slanted eyes, vision loss, and hearing loss.

The Treacher Collins disease is not treatable but can be made easier for everyday life. Tests like the cleft palate repair, external ear surgery, and the zygomatic reconstruction sometimes make the lives of those with the syndrome better. Nothing else contributes to this disease because there is only one type of it that is non-treatable and it does not effect a person’s mental or brain health and growth. Although vision and hearing may be at risk, the people are otherwise completely healthy and have organs that still work without any medical drug. Many people may look at those with this disease and look at them with a weird look, just because they look different. These kids and adults may get treated different socially by those looks. The treacher Collins syndrome happens to 1 out of every 50,000 people which is extremely rare. The disease is a negative mutation because it is possible to have a loss of vision and hearing
