The Triangle fire killed 146 people and many others were badly injured. Everyone who jumped, mainly from the 9th and 10th floors, were killed. This was the highest death toll for any fire I've ever heard a factory having, 25 workers died in the Newark factory fire. After that fire I knew that another fire was going to come up as fire safety was not the main concern in New York factories. There was only way to escape as the elevator was engulfed in flames almost immediately after the fire started and the fire escape was poorly designed and even started collapsing as the fire raged on.
People concluded that she died by being buried under the steam pipes and heavy timbers when the explosion happened. Fifteen people were in serious condition, but not fatal. Some girls have bruises from jumping off the building, but most of the girls were able to go home the same day after their trip to the hospital. Although there are no known fact of what really caused the explosion, a theory state that after the engineer started up the fire by throwing in the sawdust. The wind draft blew the flames out, and carried the sawdust in the bin upward through a dust vents.
And the wind wasn’t helping either. The wind made the fire spread faster in different directions. “The wind had increased in velocity, and burning chunks of wood were being carried for many blocks before they fell to earth. No accurate measure of the wind’s velocity was made during the fire, though many eyewitnesses claimed it was as strong as a hurricane.” They were sent to the wrong address but could see the flames from afar and could modify their route. “Schaffer’s first signal went out at 9:30.
The Chicago Fire was a very destructive and devastating fire. This fire killed more than 300 people. It left more than 100000 people homeless. The fire burned for two days before it was able to be put out by rain. On the 18 of October in 1871 a fire started in a backyard barn.
The fire was tremendously devastating to the citizens of Chicago. Firefighters, who had fought a large fire the day prior, were first sent to the wrong address. Later they heard shouts of fire and were able to find the correct location. But because they were not able to get to the right place sooner they lost very valuable time which
First shooting ima talk about is the Las Vegas shooting the shooting happened on Las Vegas around 58 people died and around 400 injured! This happened during a concert the shooter was on the 31st floor just shooting everyone and the people didn 't know where to go. The Shooter had some illegal guns also and he had a lot of ammo also! Our presentation topic was about the 2017 Las Vegas Shooting. My group members are Michaela Finneyfrock, Riya Patel, Bridget Cichon, Jack Zigler, and Mason Parker-Loan. This event had occurred on October 1st at 10:05 PM, where a man named Stephen Paddock had fired many bullets at a concert from the window of his room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel. About 58 people were killed and 546 people were injured. He had also killed himself.
They both met at a time and place, although in the Outsiders one gang won and they were not allowed to use weapons, but in West Side Story both gangs lost because both their group leaders died. They were also not able to finish the fight because the police came, and they did not agree to anything, so someone randomly pulled out a switchblade. A lot of the scenes were similar, but in each movie, they also had something unique about each
She had just started an internship at a Denver radio station when she had a life-changing expiernece – she survived a mass shooting. She was in the Eaton Center food court moments before Christopher Husbands opened fire on the patrons, killing one person and injuring five others. Jessica wrote on her blog about having a funny feeling that night and stepping outside for some fresh air – a decision that saved her life. But just one month later Jessica attended a screening of The Dark Knight Rises at a movie theater in Aurora. Unfortunately for her this was the night that James Holmes went on the rampage inside the theatre and shot 80 people, 12 of whom died.
The following quote is from the struggle between business and labor reading. In the quote, the narrator is reflecting back on what happened during the haymarket affair, “On May 3, union members, strike-breakers, and police clashed. One union member died. As police moved in to end the meeting, and unknown person threw a bomb. It killed seven police and wounded about sixty people.
On September 11, 2001 the twin towers were attacked. A total of three thousand people died that morning. The worse thing is that four hundred of them were policemen and firemen they were trying to save other people but they died in the action. They all died from the collapse or being stuck in the rubble for too long. ("11 Facts About 9/11.") This disaster caused lots and lots of lives from innocent people.
What happened on March 25th 1911 was a terrible tragedy at Triangle Waist building. A fire was started by a match a worker had that spread into a very flammable waste material. Even though all fires start the same size, this one spread rapidly so water pails couldn’t put it out. They tried the hose, but no water came out. There was 123 woman and 23 men that died that day, because of the tragedy.
Pleasant Newspaper article states, “Had it not been for the efforts of the neighbors and willing workers several homes might have been totally destroyed” (Other Buildings In Danger). This quote proves that if the neighbors would not have jumped in and helped out, houses would have been lost. Since the fire had nowhere else to go other than the church and bowling alley, it died out. Overall, this fire was a massive fire that took two buildings, fortunately, it took no
When the bomb went off it ended up killing 168 people and about 16 children in the school nearby. (Abc news) The building was taken down in seconds because they had set it up right next to the pillars so the building would collapse faster. When the bomb went off it destroyed about 300 more buildings!! Days after the explosion McVeigh had been stopped for running a stop light and later figured out that he did the bombing and was sentenced to death. (History.com)McVeigh was turned in that moment when he got stopped.
Remembering the Triangle Shirtwaist fire Disaster hit March 25, 1911 at 4:40 pm at the Triangle Shirt Waste Factory when it caught on fire by a cigarette bud or burning match. The employees were mainly young women and girls of Italian and Jewish decent and 146 died that day. The workers wanted out of the building but one of the doors was locked in the stairwell. Speculation was that Isaac Harris locked the door. Some of the women and girls jumped off the building and out the windows to trying to survive which was interfering with the firemen trying to put out the fire.
