Tribal Education in India – Evaluation and Recommendations

Key Objectives:
Aiming to provide dynamic education to the tribal children in India that will be tailored to suit their own requirements and help overcome their problems and predicaments. The pressing problems like students’ attendance rates, physical location of the village, lack of awareness of education and sustainable livelihood are to be tackled. This is in the intention of bringing out the magnitude of these issues and providing recommendations towards building a quality and brighter education model for the children in the disadvantaged tribal communities in India.

The importance of education and more specifically that which is specific to their communities’ problems has to be reiterated to them for the conservation and preservation of their unique ecosystems.
Requirement of Action:
There is a need for immediate action to be taken in the following areas. The key is to innovate and implement in order to improve the education systems.
 Economic Condition – The tribal population are not equipped with the necessary financial help for education and travelling to school due to many reasons like a lack of livelihood, social and class discrimination etc.

 Accessibility – Much of the tribal population lives in hilly terrain or in remote locations which prevents them from going to school. Each with its unique set up has to be nurtured. To get the students to understand the criticality of learning and education, these solutions will have to be executed. In that sense, the following recommendations aim to cover all the issues faced by tribal education in India.
Employment of different methods of teaching –
 Montessori learning equips children with academic skills through creativity and their intrinsic desires to learn. Implementation of the same will help in boosting awareness in education among the students and parents.
 STEM education ensures that children focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics in lower levels as well that will improve the quality of education and stimulate innovation in the society.
 Community School concepts can be integrated in the system which promotes joyful and inclusive learning. Community participation is encouraged to ensure that problems are solved more effectively as they understand ground realities and can strike change where it’s really needed.
 Digitalised learning – Environment-friendly learning methods which broadens the senses and incorporates
