Tridosha: Tridosha is the most fundamental principle of Ayurveda. According to Ayurveda, the functioning of the nature is similar to the human body. Every physical creation is composed of 5 basic elements: Akash (Ether), Vayu (Air), Agni (Fire), Jala (Water) and Prithvi (Earth). In structural aspect, human body is also made of these 5 basic elements, but in functional aspect, our body is governed by three biological humors called Tridosha. Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These Tridosha are present in every cell, tissue and organ of human being. The proportion of these three doshas differs in every individual, but they are present in each of us and express differently according to predominance of their different qualities. 1. Kapha acts as a lubricant around the joints, brain, in our reproductive fluids. Kapha is made up of water and earth elements. Kapha is the substance which maintains compactness in the body by providing the fluid matrix to it. Kapha people are likely to have prolonged digestion, deep sleep, slow and deliberate speech patterns and activities, overweight problems, diabetes type 2, lung problems, lethargy, oily skin and thick hairs. Emotional characteristics of Kapha people are sweet, gentle, loving, calm and loyal. When Kapha is imbalanced, one can become greedy, possessive, stubborn, lethargic, complacent and depressed.
