One of the vastest issues the country is facing during the recent years is climate change. This change occurring in the climate has an impact on the natural phenomena like changing rainfall distribution and temperature, to name some. It is a fact that annually, 20 tropical cyclones enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), on the average. Among the total tropical cyclones, not all are developed to become a strong typhoon, which brings disasters and serious destruction to the environment that severely affects humans. The disasters being described are forest fires, soil erosion, flooding, etc (ERDB 2011).
Flood is the cause of overflowing in a certain body of water that covers a dry land . This is the most frequent event brought by typhoons and continuous precipitation and this happens when the water exceeds the absorptive capacity of the soil and carrying capacity of the streams. Also, this can be more hazardous if the event happened in a flood prone area. Many provinces and municipalities in the Philippines are exposed to this type of event like Sta. Cruz, Laguna. Since, Sta. Cruz is where the capitol of Laguna is

Cruz Watershed is geographically located at 14 11’01.2” latitude and 121 26’34.7” longitude. Mt. Banahaw-San Cristobal Protected area is where the Sta. Cruz watershed’s main waterline is located (DENR, 2012). The climate in the area is identified as Type I with two pronounced seasons, dry and wet. The former is from February to April and May to January on the latter. The highest and lowest rainfall occurrence in the area is from May to December and January to April, respectively. The total number of rainy days that was recorded is 202 and the monthly mean daily rainfall, 262.44 mm. The average annual temperature in the area ranges from 23.05˚C to 29.93˚C, the previous as the lowest and the latter as the peak. The average temperature during the coldest month, January, is 24.6˚C and during the warmest month, May, is 28.10˚C, every

St. Augustine is a city located in St. Johns county in northeastern Florida and is most known for being the oldest continuously occupied city in the United States, having been colonized by Spain in 1565. Prior to the 1513 landing of Spanish conquistador Juan Ponce de León (who christened the peninsula which he mistook for an island “La Florida” and claimed it for Spain), the area of land that is now called “St. Augustine” was inhabited by a population of natives known as the Timucua people. After the initial arrival of Juan Ponce de León in 1513, the Spanish would go on to make several unsuccessful attempts at colonization in Florida over the following 51 years. The Spanish were not alone in their pursuit to annex and settle land on the peninsula.

The Council has played an important role in science and technology to deal with climate change impacts. The federal government and states have come up with so many solutions to reduce the consequences of climate change such as beach nourishment, restoration and increase the natural areas. The hurricane Sandy in 2012 and Katrina 2005 caused serious damage to people and properties. Due to the rising risk of hurricane and storm, they
There are several things that can result in floods. Rain, obviously, but believe it or not, droughts can, too. A drought is a long period of dry weather, especially one injurious to crops. Droughts can result in floods because during prolonged spells, especially, they will deplete the ground’s source of water, leaving the top layer extraordinarily dry. Then, when it rains, that top layer acts as a natural barrier, preventing the water from soaking in.
The Average Maximum Temperature is 85.8°F in July, whereas the Lowest Average Minimum Temperature is 23.9°F in January. Also noted is the Average Annual Snowfall of 10.7 inches. Scientists are finding that the aquifer could be at risk with the climbing climate. It triggers an increase in rainfall rather than snowfall in the mountains resulting in less groundwater. Reduction of water supply is also because of streamflow timing due to increased
Under the assessment and evaluation of current environment situation, the federal government have developed the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change and other collective actions to address climate change. Under the federal consideration of climate change, there exists four pillars including pricing carbon pollution, taking action in each sector of the economy, adapting to climate change and supporting clean technologies, innovation and job creation. As carbon pollution is the majority factor influencing climate in earth, much attention has been put on this area. In order to control the carbon pollution to climate, government will collaborate with the territories and indigenous people to assess the practice of carbon
Marino makes it known that understanding this relationship is essential in distinguishing how Shishmaref citizens have become a vulnerable community. In fact, these relationships along with historical conditions, influenced how residents in that specific community experienced disasters. In this section, the differences between a hazard and vulnerability are also highlighted to determine their interconnection with disasters; for a disaster to take place both must be present. Marino strategically follows up with chapter three to show the link between climate change, vulnerability, and disasters. The purpose of this chapter was to demonstrate how ecological changes can be contributed to the vulnerability of Shishmaref.
Annotated Bibliography: How Climate Change Is Affecting Our Planet Controversy statement: Climate change is been debated for over centuries now. People all around the world are taking action and reducing burning fossils to minimize the gasses in the atmosphere. Many people believe that climate change doesn't exists. But there are a lot of controversial topics that proves that climate change is real. In my opinion, climate change is slowly killing us and destroying our planet.
Located just of the 76, or Tony Zeppetella, highway in southern California is the home of the 18th Spanish mission, Mission San Luis Rey de Fancia. This is one of the most southern missions in California, aside from Mission San Diego de Alcala. This mission was founded by Padre Fermin Francisco de Lasuen in 1789, and it was named after St. Louis XI, the King of France. This mission had undergone several of the stages seen in the average Californian historical landmarks and buildings. As discussed in class, California’s architecture and culture was influenced by several different groups during its developing centuries, these are the groups and cultures that influenced the mission as noted by the official Old San Luis Rey Mission website: Luiseño
As you travel across Tennessee, you may notice that one part of the state looks very different from other parts of the state. That is because there are six physiographic regions within Tennessee. Moving west to east, they include the Gulf Coastal Plains, Highland Rim, Central Basin, Cumberland Plateau, Great Valley, and the Unaka Mountains. Located in middle Tennessee, Nashville lies in a valley through which the Cumberland River flows. Nashville, the states capital, is nicknamed the central basin and describes Nashville and its surrounding areas.
This leads to soil erosion. The water carries away the eroded soil and the eroded soil may be deposited in rivers. Rainwater flows quickly into rivers during heavy rain because there is no reservation of water by plant roots as well as water catchment areas. Due to oozing in the rivers, the water flow is slowed down and become blocked. Thus, water flow interior and causes flash floods in low areas.
They also include the replacement of undersized structures such as bridges. These works are necessary, as the original channels have become undersized as a result of the increase in flood flows caused by development. Flash flood also can be overcome with storage ponds of flood attenuation. Ponds such as disused mining pools can be used for flood storage. The objective is to divert the flood water through such ponds and thus regulate the outflow so that the flood peaks are attenuated.
2.8 Main Cause of Flood According to Jabatan Penerangan Malaysia (2012), issues of flood that happen certainly had their own causes. There are many causes such as: 2.8.1 Continuous Rain Continuous rain without stopping can cause flooding. In low areas, rain water will flow into the river. River filled with water will overflow causing lowland area are flooded.
The formation of the main reason is due to flood alluvial. When floods occur, especially in mountainous areas, the following
