Hello,
In the MBA 503 class what I learned that I did know before where the following two things:
That each leader can develop into an authentic leader as well as reading and being introduced into our book True North where it walk us through the journey we must take in order to find our individual true north.
The subjects that capture my attention where Leading change and leading with emotional intelligence. This help me to focus on my own self-awareness as well as looking at my own emotional intelligence. As I journal on these area it help me to develop a strategy plan to work on both of these areas in order to grow and develop into an authentic leader.
My overall perspective of the relevance and applicability of the Authentic Leadership framework is that as you continue to grow and develop. As a leader, we must understand that this is a process and will take time to learn how to be an authentic leader. I believe that

I have been able to define it so it could help me through my career. I will use it throughout to help develop my leadership and career journey.
Being a leader is very stressful and challenging. There are days when I come home and tell myself I would rather just go back to being a therapist getting my assignment finishing it and going home. No worries about staff members, HR issues, new or old polices.
Nevertheless, as I continue to learn and educate myself through this master program I am learning and seeing that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Right now, I am dealing with 26 different personalities as a manager. I was talking to my brother who also is a manager right now and he told me the goal is to keep moving up and as you do, you will then be over managers, than over directors. They will get easier to manage. Right now, you are dealing with the front line who are actually the hardest to deal with. I pray and hope this is
I read several journals, magazines and books that are written on leadership. I have got the idea from them. But the message of Stephen R. Covey noted in his book "the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" has affected me a lot. His 7 habits of highly effective people find me in complete agreement
First and foremost I believe that my personal leadership philosophy is embedded in various factors and the very first one being fully understanding myself as who I am as a person. I believe that knowing my self fully will make it easier for me to direct my followers towards the achievement of the organisational goal. I also believe that knowing my self will make me
In developing this paper on leadership, I examined what was most important to me as a leader. As I reflected on my leadership philosophy, I thought about my experiences and the principals that I have learned through my own self-discovery and the observation of other leaders that I have had throughout my life. My leadership philosophy paper will focus on what leadership is to me, core values, and knowledge of others. In thinking about my definition of leadership, I thought of what was most important to me in and as a leader.
Leaders embrace changes and create better paths to move forward. Managers tend to stick to the plan, they do no embrace changes, and other situations that may change the way to reach the goal. Managers maintain the status quo and structures that work. Leaders are authentic and self-aware. They continuously work to build a unique and different brand.
This course has also expanded on different aspects of adaptive leadership such as: disequilibrium, diversity, running experiments, and the four KLC competencies of civic leadership. Two of the biggest takeaways I have gained through course are being able to tell a technical problem from an adaptive problem, and learning of the four KLC competencies. My ideas of ideal leadership were very basic and elementary when I first began this course. I was very stuck on trait theory and the functional approach as most people think that leaders are born and not made, and that by completing tasks a leader would do then you are looked at as being a leader. I believe this is due largely to my playing of competitive team sports as this is where trait theory and the functional approach can be largely seen for a lot
According to insights and research by Rost leadership is defined as a power- and value-laden relationship between leaders and followers/constituents who intend real changes that reflect their mutual purposes and goals (Rost, 1993). As a leader I would need to establish strong and trust worthy relationships with all my team members and followers that work with me. Once those relationships are moving forward I must maintain them through consistent dialogue with each person individually and collectively as a team. All barriers must be removed that could hinder my need as the leader to hare my ethical position about the issues of life. Reference: Brown, M. E., & Trevino, L. K. (2006).
These leaders are aware of how they think and act and are true to themselves, and they are conscious of how they are perceived by others. Self-awareness and awareness of others are the recurring theme within authentic leadership. Authentic leaders are clear about their own values and moral perspectives, knowledge and strengths and are equally aware of these attributes within others. They are confident, hold a positive view of the future, are resilient and are perceived by others to be of high moral character and place a high importance on the development of employees as leaders. According to Waite etc (2013:486), Wrong and Cummings, have highlighted four underlying components of authentic leadership: (a) self-awareness, (b) unbiased balanced information processing, (c) authentic behaviour or action, and (d) relational
This leadership to identify organizational, societal, and environmental issues. The true difference is authentic leadership engage in innovation and creative solutions
Leadership Working in the hotel industry in various managerial positions have taught me a lot of what such posts are all about, however, most of the time one tends to forget what leadership is all about when his or her focus in much more on achieving goals set by the directors. I recall my first taste of what leadership really is, going back several years when I was still a young boy in the Scouts. In those days, I used to look up at the scout leaders as role models and eventually I also did go up the ranks, but in those times it was more the fun and play element of it all! When I started to work in the hotel industry in my early teen's things got a little bit different, I could understand that working in a team sometimes it was much easier following “orders” given to us by one of our co-workers rather than from the manager himself.
In fact, leadership is an art rather than a science. The process of learning leadership is a hand-on experience, which focuses on practice instead of concepts itself. This course provides me a chance to gain more insight about leadership and it helps me develop my new image of leadership. Meanwhile, I also use the theories in our textbook as a framework for self-assessment of my leadership skills and try to develop my own leadership style during the

Through self-reflection and academic readings, I have discovered that I identify with three different leadership theories. During the first meeting in a Strength Based Leadership class, we were asked to write our leadership history. The class then began an ongoing exploration of various leadership theories. Upon reviewing my leadership history from the first class and synthesizing the information from the theories that were examined, I discovered that I most resonate with the Trait Leadership Theory, the Skills Leadership Theory, and the Path-Goal Leadership theory. These theories are leader focused, describing the process and techniques a leader uses to accomplish goals.
To become a more proficient leader in the ever-changing world, a comprehensive analysis of self will allow me to gain a better insight into what differentiates me from others, along with my strengths, weaknesses and how I can change for the better, which will all be useful in the creation of my leadership plan. Delving into the depths of my inner workings, I understand that there are a number of qualities I possess that can potentially be detrimental to my success as a leader. Examples include less hurtful tendencies such as my likelihood to procrastinate on important matters, or more severe issues like my inability to establish a truly desirable career goal. That being said, I understand that it is imperative for me to develop these ambitions
This essay is a reflection of my personal leadership development blueprint this quarter. The paper identifies three main attributes that have made me to become a change leader this quarter. The essay concludes by highlighting some core values that have successfully made this change possible. An effective leader is defined as encouraging people to take risks - to evaluate their core beliefs and worldview - and engage effectively with others (Flanagan, 2014).
