INDONESIA CONFRONTATION Under Tunku Abdul Rahman Malaysian Foreign Policy 1957-1969, there are few conflicts arisen between Malaya and its neighboring countries. One of the issues on that time is the Indonesian Confrontation towards Malaysia due to the formation of federation of Malaysia. Its causes some fight between fight Indonesian and Malaysian as Indonesian sent their troops to spark and start up raids and sabotage. At that time, Sabah and Sarawak also faced attempt of subversion by the Indonesian. This is because, Indonesia did not satisfied that North Borneo and Sarawak were joining the federation of Malaysia because, the President Sukarno had interest to emerge with them to form an Indonesia Raya. President Sukarno regards the Federation of Malaysian on that time as an indirect political control by British towards these countries. Indonesia under President Sukarno at that time had intention in forming a bigger Indonesia in these Southeast Asia countries. That was truly satisfying to us though we were not very much affected internally by Indonesia Confrontation aggression and confrontation. In 1965, internal strike broke out in Indonesia, where President Sukarno was forced to transfer his power to General Suharto. After Sukarno had been withdrawn from his power, he then was put under the house of arrest. Next, Suharto became the President of Indonesia and he and Tunku Abdul Rahman agreed that they would end the confrontation. Nevertheless, we would now be able to devote ourselves to the national well being of Malaysia.
