Writing to Compare Theme and Worldview In my opinion,“Two Friends” presents friendship more realistically than “Damon and Pythias”. “Two Friends”, written by Guy de Maupassant, is a story of two friends, M. Morissot and M. Sauvage, who go fishing outside the city of Paris during the Franco-Prussian War. This story is more realistic because the background of the story is an actual event that happened in history. Even though the story is fiction, something similar could have happened. Also, this story explains how their friendship developed. M. Morissot and M. Sauvage developed their friendship through fishing. We gain comfort and joy through friendship, but it’s also the seed of various problems and conflicts. Friendship is probably the first non-family relationship that a person builds in their life. Friendship gets more and more complicated as you grow up, and it teaches you how to deal with all sorts of people that you will meet in the future. Therefore, friendship makes you grow up as a person. There was a period of time where I was a bit confused about friendship. Friendship seemed like a tool to get yourself away from loneliness. While this might be true, there are deeper fascinations about friendship. Friendship is what allows you to actually care about someone, which makes you a better person. It allows individuals to share happy moments as well as burdens in their life. However, I think it is not good to be too devoted to friendship. It is important for you to have some time for yourself and focus on yourself. The balance between the two is important. Friendship is like a spice for life.
