Assignment Psychology 1 Compare and Contrast Two Perspectives of psychology This assignment will compare and contrast two perspective of psychology. The perspectives in which it looks at will be The Behaviourist Approach and The Cognitive Approach. This assignment will ensure to explain each perspective and to also identify the commonalities and the differences between each perspective. Behaviourism is a psychological approach that highlights scientific and objective methods of investigation. The observable stimulus-response is the only concern of this approach. The main similarities between both perspectives is that they are both old theories and that both of them have being replaced by other or more recent approaches. Both approaches also attempt to explain human behaviour but in different ways to each other. In the nature nurture debate cognitive psychologists take an interactionist position. They believe that a person's behaviour is influenced by learning and by experience (nurture) but also by how a person's brain works as information processors (nature). Likewise, Behaviourists also believe that nurture influences a humans behaviour but it is one sided. The behaviourist believes that other than a few innate reflexes and the volume for learning, everything else involved with behaviour is learned from the environment.…show more content…
