Today I will be describing a work of art from the artist Pablo Picasso. The name of his work of art is Two Woman in Front of a Window. The dimensions of this piece are 38 ½ x 51 ½ in. (97.8 x 130.8 cm). It is a painting of oil on canvas. I really like this drawing because I feel that it represent two of the different types of women that there is in this world. Sometimes women are concreate sharp and smart and other women are just dull and lost and are constantly walked over by the sharp women. When I first seen this image the first thing I noticed was the cool colors, green, blues however, the colors seem a bit darker on the left side of this image. This image is divided in vertical equal sides. In the left side of the painting I see a figure of a women. I feel like the women on the left is being described as a sharp or smarter women then the women on the right. I feel this way because she is almost shaped as the top sharp …show more content…
The image named Standing Mother and Child created by artist Elizabeth Catlett is made with bronze and with copper alloy on wood base. The image show a mother who is standing firm and strong as she carries her child. It represents a firm posture of where woman stand in motherhood. I feel that this image points out social awareness because is bringing out the sharp out of women. I feel like artist Elizabeth was really trying to represent women as a very important figure. Women are mostly always taken for granted when it comes to recognition. Many people forget what women have to deal with when they become mothers and the many things they have to give up. And the pain that they feel and even the more duties that they have to accomplish as they become older. As a wife there is a lot of work to accomplish and some people do not understand that they feel that women are lazy and that being a house wife or a mother is no work at all. So I feel that artist Elizabeth wants to represent the role that women play by maintaining a secure social
2), it has been created with the same materials as the previous work of art in which I discussed however it measures 244 x 244 cm. In this work of art, we are able to see two females standing still and facing towards the sunset as two older men are on opposite sides of them facing towards us. It seems as though this image depicts individuals who have just finished their workday based on the way in which they are dressed. It is evident that he puts forth some of the same techniques used in Iceberg Blues (Fig. 1) such as the images containing city people and the sunset landscape. Also, the individuals in this painting are not communicating with each other or making any eye contact perhaps because they also have different beliefs and cannot relate to one another.
I have always wanted to be a good artist but feel like I do not have the skill set to be one. With that being said, to me any piece of work seems skilled as no matter how hard I try I am unable to even draw the simplest of picture. I do consider representational art a very hard task to perform, as task that only skillful artist would be able to achieve. This piece I truly enjoy, it reminds me on the times I have been on hikes or in the open country and have sat underneath a tree to relax and enjoy the scenery. The only issue I have with the picture is the expression on the girl’s face.
The figure of the woman seems to be backed up by no background but a white void. This sense of emptiness distantly resemble oriental Chinese painting. The figure seems to dissolve into the void. The composition is integrated and the painting seems harmonious and dynamic due to the curvilinear lines formed by the edges of flat color blocks. There seems to be musical rhythm to the painting.
The appealing factor of this paintings comes from its message and juxtaposition of colours and stroke
Elizabeth’s bravery and strength is a huge part of who she is. She is a source of goodness among so many others who chose to go along with the madness. Values as strong as these provide a shed of light in the midst of something as detrimental as the witch trials, where the poor values of others cost dozens of
At first glance you’re able to depict the woman in the photo along with many other major components like the book in her hand and the 2 children alongside her. The Women in the photo stands as a symbol herself, she wears a shirt saying, ‘America
There is no source of natural light in the picture, and the direction of the artificial light is indiscernible. When a viewer first looks at the painting, they see the cow and man observing each other. Then, a viewer will notice the finer details of the smaller cow being milked, the man with a scythe in the town, and the sapling being held by gentle hands. The colors in the foreground are whites and greens, while in the background there are darker tones of green and black. The lines are curved and overlapping, suggesting wrinkles and folds in the cow and the
As her speech comes to a close she involves both man and women and imposes them to think that society would be better if men and women would work together. This gets people thinking that if both sexes were able to contribute to society ,then society would reach its best potential with great minds. Both men and women would in cooperate each of their own strong suits as people. Elizabeth talked about how women have their own characteristics as females that would benefit the progressing of
The author symbolized that growth in Elizabeth’s character with the striking image of a “shining steel knife with a polished cutting edge.” Before she had made the three day journey, with her daughter Sylvie, Elizabeth had been a woman with “paralytic fear” of her husband; she was unable to stand up to him when he treated her with disrespect, saying things such as, “Shut yer mouth, woman, and git my supper.” It was clear that the husband treated her with little dignity, as if she was of a lower class then him, merely because she was a woman and he was a man. Elizabeth realized, after reading the book, The Feminine Mystique, that she was not alone in questioning if that was the proper way for a husband to treat his wife. Returning from the trip, her daughter was able to sense the “new dogged strength “that Elizabeth had created in herself and saw her new “courage” first hand when her mother had asserted her worth as an individual by demanding respect from her husband, in the form of him calling her by her name.
In the painting there is a great detail that is shown. The tassels on the bed and the way the curtain falls gives a textural component to the painting. The artist also chose to use vertical repetitive lines in the tiles, and the tassels are feminine. There is also a slight curve in her body shape and her backbone, and her voluptuous yet curvy silhouette that shows femininity. Her legs overlapping each other, turban on her head and having her
Even the woman’s frame and posture seem to follow the lines created by the railings of the viewing box. The railings are also implied lines, the first thing our eyes go to is the woman, and then we follow the railings to the man who has his gaze set on the woman. The man’s gaze gives us implied lines that lead us back to the main focus of the painting, the woman. The artist also uses light and dark to guide our eyes to the important parts of the artwork. Most of the artwork is dark, while the woman and the man looking at her are in the light.
The paint is not put on evenly an example would be her skin and the sky. Both have layers of a translucent gray so that the light passes through the layers producing a soft radiant. There’s no depth in this oil painting the works depends on aerial perspective for its effect, on scaled variations of color, tone and form as perceived at different distances? In brief this painting depicted social construct of the Tahiti women it during that decades poor, miss guided. They were rarely seen and they were used as an object, even in their own land such as the native
The physical qualities of Diego Rivera’s “Two Women and a Child” feature an oil on canvas medium. In this painting, Rivera utilizes the fresco technique which according to “A Beginners Guide to the Humanities” is a painting on a surface of plastered wall or ceiling, usually applied when the plaster is wet. Using the fresco technique allows any work of art to have a durable consistency and matte finish. The shapes of the figures have curvilinear lines to accentuate the curves and swirls of their bodies.
It has a dark undertone. The essential colors are black and gray. There are some specks of light blue and yellow surrounding the center. The visual look of the painting is distinctive because it does not display a landscape or focus on a particular thing- rather, it is just based on solid colors with non symmetrical, wavy
The portrait represents the beauty of the time period. It holds simplistic colors with detailed shading. The artwork is very intriguing to me. I love the detail in the background, there are tiny brushstrokes that makes up the mountains and sky. Also, I find the shading of the mouth and eyes very interesting.
