Now the question is: Will Tyson ever be able to repeat or replicate Kennedy’s success in propelling the United States into outer space? The simple answer is no. Tyson will never be able to to repeat Kennedy’s feat for many reasons, but the two most important ones are that he will never be in a position to reach out and get the extended attention of America and that people just don 't see space as the new frontier that they once did. Space is an amazing thing and a thing that should be explored, but that is not the view that many Americans have. Ever since America has decided stop going to the moon enthusiasm and support for space travel and NASA in general has decreased. In 2010, President Obama cut funding for several NASA missions including a mission that would have put Americans back on the moon by 2020. "I understand that some believe that we should attempt a return to the surface of the Moon first, as previously planned. But I just have to say pretty bluntly here: We’ve been there before," Obama said. This opinion is shared by many Americans, but what many Americans don 't realize are the amazing benefits of space travel. If Tyson were to hit on these point in a way that Kennedy did he would be much more successful. …show more content…
Space programs such as NASA, its many contractors, and universities help people get and stay employed. NASA puts out information concerning how many jobs a particular project produces. Here is an specific example: in 2012, a NASA administrator published a paper about the Mars Curiosity rover project. “It’s also important to remember that the $2.5 billion investment made in this rover project was not spent on Mars, but here on Earth, supporting more than 7,000 jobs in at least 31 states,” he wrote. Jobs are quite literally the lifeblood of American capitalism and when a program is creating 7,000 jobs and producing valuable products how can we as the United States justify cutting
If it was not for the death of JFK, I believe he would have continued his efforts
Kennedy called his domestic program that was known as the New Frontier. A program that was ambitiously promising to give federal funding for education to those with low income, medical care to the elderly so they gotten the best treatment. Even economic aid to people who were living in the rural regions of America as well as government intervention to help halt the recession, it was a period of temporary economic decline for all trade and industrial activities for farms and factories, causing income of profit in America to reduce. Kennedy had also promised an end to racial discrimination toward colored people. He told everyone this deal in his speech at the Democratic Convention, saying that not all problems are won through, just at many problems are not solved.
Source C is a great example of how putting an intelligent mind with deep pockets at the forefront of this industry produces results. It is clear that money is needed to change space exploration from an idea to a reality. NASA has needed a large amount of government and public funding to scratch the surface of this concept. In fact, Source C states, “The increase in launch competition and drop in launch prices is called the “Space X” effect for a good reason”. Notice that improvements being made in the business are known as the “Space X effect”, which is a privatized company, not the “NASA effect”.
Lastly Kennedy states, “ My fellow citizens of the world; ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.” In this famous quote from Kennedy’s inaugural speech, he says that together, the people of America can do
J.F Kennedy, the president of United States wanted to put the first Americans to the moon-America exploring the moon, so he directed his speech to the people of taxes and Rice University to promote his space exploration program that will help America to be the first country to explore the moon. He believes that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth. Throughout J.F Kennedy's speech, the speaker makes effective use of evidence, reasoning, rhetorical elements, and rhetorical devices that together form his argument to gain people support for his space exploration program. J.F Kennedy was trying to prove his point of view by giving examples and using a lot of Rhetorical devices and appeals that would grab the reader's attention
This was uncommon because during Neil’s time there were no African Americans at NASA. “Tyson has also written eleven books, including: Death by Black Hole, Other Cosmic Quandaries, and The Pluto Files. (Ventura 25). Tyson hosted the series Origins in 2004,and NOVA ScienceNow in 2006. Tyson has also been a guest on many TV shows.

On September 12, 1962, at Rice University in Houston Texas, John F. Kennedy gave a powerful speech to garner support for the funding of the space race for the USA. He stated the importance of putting a man on the moon before the end of the decade in its efforts against the Soviet Union and the expectation was met in 1969 by the astronaut Neil Armstrong. His speech forged a new path that the US was heading and inherently started the revolution of the exploration of outer space. Kennedy’s “Moon Speech” makes use of ethos and Kairos to persuade the people of America to become interested in and invest in the ongoing space race. A very important factor in JFK’s speech was his effective use of rhetoric, notably ethos, which he used to make himself become more believable and authoritative.
Like I said this was his first of many presidential decisions. Every president wants to make a great first impression, but the reality is Kennedy learned from this failed invasion. To add to that, yes this invasion didn’t help America’s image, but history has not been erased. No one has forgotten and will ever forget what happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and all of the many other wars we have fought and won. Yes he might of made a mistake, but he learned from it
Kennedy starts off by telling us how the world and freedom is in major danger, being close to a nuclear war, telling us that it has the power to end the human species (3). The next point made is that we should “... never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate” (Kennedy 15). This means that we should negotiate to make a means with that someone not because we have to negotiate to stay safe from that someone. Kennedy then says that the goal would to have the world work together to explore problems, have a common arm control and be equal in weaponry power, and work together to unlock new sciences (16-18).
He was determined to explore the unknown depths of space and bring the unknown to light. He breaks down the facts and scientific meanings to where everyday people can comprehend what is being said. He is one of the most awarded, looked up to, and influential people to ever breathe. Tyson has many awards, degrees, masters, and is very successful in the works of space studies. Tyson is still making discoveries to this day, he is determined to educate people more about space and how this world and first life came about.
The speech accomplished what it was after because NASA got a man on the moon in 1969, but JFK never got to see the event. Even though he never saw the event, any speech can be compared to his “We Chose to go to the Moon” because every speech has a purpose and uses rhetorical components in some way that benefits the speaker. Pathos, ethos, and logos were used so that the audience gets the speaker what he/she wants. That was the same as what Kennedy did through his speech. At the end of the speech Kennedy again, talks about how people spent money on tobacco products instead of the space program.
well I think that it's because President Kennedy is a competitive person, but also because of the vows of his country, our country, that they need to be fulfilled, and he wants that to happen, they need to be first in order for it to be fulfilled, this is what fuels the motivation of his point of view, evidence from paragraph 3, this country of the United States was not built by those who waited and rested and wished to look behind them, this country was conquered by those who moved forward and so will space, these are one of the vows, to never stop, to always advance, to keep moving even through space, which is how the country was ruled, this vow encouraged his point of view, and from paragraph 5 those who came before us made certain that
“Don 't Gut NASA Space Missions” An assistant professor and NASA team mission overlooker, Janet Vertesi in her article “Don 't Gut NASA Space Missions” argues that cutting the funds of NASA means that they 'd have to make adjustments Dukes 4 or completely cancel some of their missions. She supports her claim by explaining how not only is the cut of money not only devastating for the scientists but for our economy. Next she continues to explain how the cut will ruin careers of some scientists.
President Kennedy’s moon speech at Rice University came at a time of high uncertainty regarding technology and the threat of war. Kennedy’s emotive speech aimed to lift and inspire those who feared the worst and to encourage the population to grow and achieve their greatest potential. The ‘moon speech’ will be analysed by uncovering key components of the speech that created a lasting impression on the authors of this report. It is important to firstly explore and identify the traits and attributes of leadership exhibited by President Kennedy in this speech. Additionally, a discussion amongst group members will be necessary to ascertain how and why this speech was inspiring, and whether this speech could be considered as the greatest speech
