Various sources may have provided different definitions for organization, but simply put, an organization is a group of people that share and work towards a common goal. Whenever we here this word, most of us l usually think of large groups, such as companies, universities, and churches. However, an organization can also be composed of only a relatively small number of members, examples of which are families, student groups (for reports, projects, and theses), and of course, student organizations. The forms of authority were also shown clearly. There’s a line authority between the president and the committee heads, and between the committee heads and the members of each committee. Staff authority is also evident between the president and the executive secretary, whose main functions include keeping of records and making the minutes of meetings. The next thing that I will discuss is the organization’s structure. I can say that UP LISSA’s organizational structure is organic, even though it has a clear chain of command, since it satisfies other important characteristics of an organic organization. Like the abovementioned, UP LISSA has a wide span of control. It also has cross-hierarchical teams since the members help each other regardless of the committees in which they belong to. UP LISSA is also a decentralized organization as decision is made by not only the president. There are times when the committee heads are the ones who make the final decision, depending on the nature of the decision and on what it is concerned with. In this case, UP LISSA has a functional departmentalization, which evident in the committees.
