Unceasing Rivalry

Competition for the same objective or superiority in the same field is called rivalry, but I think there a lot more when it comes to it. Rivalry is passion, competition, a fight. Example for a huge rivalry is the fans of the football club “Pobeda” from Prilep (Majmuni) and the fans of “Pelister” from Bitola (Chkembari). It is the Pelagionija Derby when you forget about everything in your life and you want to show up on stadium, when the biggest football derby in Macedonia is played. It is a clash of clans, both on the field, and on the stands. Even though those clubs are pretty close territorially, the differences between those two sides are many.
First of all, ”Pobeda” always had bigger stadium, therefore more people had shown up on the stands, and the support for the club was bigger than that of “Pelister”. The stadium capacity is around 15.000 people, and it’s always been full. Because of this, the city of Prilep has a nickname as a top football city in Macedonia. I remember the old days when I was young trying to find a hole, or jump over the stadium wall while getting myself injured and bloody just to be with Majmuni, because to enter from the main entrance was impossible. For them, hooliganism was at first place, and most of the time you could see them half naked with lots of tattoos, well shaped, pulling the fence like a dog and looking for fight. They often fought the referees, fought with other supporters, fought with the police. And they got beaten and arrested pretty often as well. When they were on tour, they literally demolished the city they were in, and everything that was within reach.
