Response Paper On 31 March, a symposium was held at Dewan Sri Iskandar, University Technology Malaysia. The discussion topic of the symposium is about Unhealthy Lifestyle Could Lead to Heart Disease. The speaker for the discussion consist of 5 panel, in which all of them have high social status, well known and expert with the topic that will be discussed. The discussion consists of three parts which is “do you agree that unhealthy lifestyle could lead to heart disease”, “suggest way to stay healthy and fit”, and “suggest what government can do to promote healthy lifestyle among Malaysian “. It was a fruitful discussion as a lot of good points were point out. However, there are some points that I’m not agree and convinced.
One of the speaker mention that unhealthy lifestyle like smoking could lead to heart disease and I’m totally agree with him. Smoking is the single greatest cause of preventable death globally. As many as half of people who use smokes die from the results of this use. The speaker highlight that taking care of sleep pattern helps you to prevent heart disease. I’m totally agree with this because it is a fact. Sleep is essential for a healthy heart. People who don't sleep enough are at higher risk for cardiovascular disease regardless of age, weight, smoking and exercise habits. Studies that have been carried out found that those who slept fewer than six hours per night were about twice as likely to have a stroke or heart attack as people who slept six to eight hours per night. The medical world in the present day is much more advanced than it was just a few years ago. There are new medical breakthroughs as well as new diseases discovered every day. But, what we all have known for years is the tobacco is not good for the body and causes cancer. According to cancer.org, lung cancer is the leading cause of death by cancer in the United States and about 71 percent of Americans who have been diagnosed with lung cancer die from their cancer. Sleepless in American is a National Geographic documentary on the lack of sleep Americans are receiving each night. The film starts with the statistic that “40% of American adults are sleep deprived” and followed with different effects of sleep deprivation such as: weight gain, delayed reaction time, depression, anxiety, speeds the growth of cancer, and has been linked to Alzheimer’s disease. Although, there is no scientific evidence to support the need for sleep, it is an important process that allows our bodies to function properly. Several sleep studies have been performed to understand the effects sleep deprivation has on a person. The participants of the sleep trial only received four hours of sleep per night.

THE IMPORTANCE OF SLEEPING WELL Hello everybody, I’m going to speak about the most time-consuming activity in our lives: sleeping. As a matter of fact, we usually don’t pay much attention to the quality of our sleep, in spite of influencing a big deal our performance during the day, our health and well-being, in other words, our quality of life. As per the latest study conducted by the World Health Organization, one billion people smoke worldwide, which constitute about 20% of the entire world population. Cigarette smoking has numerous health hazards however, lung cancer is the most known to generations. Smoking, at the same time, is also responsible for cardiovascular disease and heart stroke. But accelerated aging continues to remain the most ignored and standard side effect of smoking.
Many reports have been issued based on the evidence regarding the devastating health affecs of smoking and the expose of second hand smoke. It is indicated that America has the greatest heath issues from smoking. Neverless, it has been declining due to the rise on taxes and the promotions to cut down tabacco use advetisement.
