I am 17 years old currently at studding health and social care level 3. I am hard working, punctual, a good time keeper, honest, polite and good at listening. Another thing I exceed in is team work, I am good at contributing in groups, as I did extra curriculum activities such as netball which allowed me to work well as a team to achieve greater accomplishments. I am a very hands on person which will make me reliable person who will be always looking to pick up extra shifts, and making the company an even better success. I see myself as someone who doesn’t give up in difficult situations.

My main role is to provide emotional support for the residents and entertain them, as many of them go for long periods of time without visitors and feel increasingly lonely. I do this by playing games with the residents or simply by talking to them.

In a qualitative survey to compare perspectives of 57 practitioners and 30 lay (patient) participants of the service provision of nutritional advice, lay participants reported that advice from GPs was either absent or was considered vague, imprecise and ‘meaningless’ as supported by the following quote from a participants about her mother: ‘… I asked my doctor about my mother’s diet because it worried me. I never received anything. He just said “try and make sure she has a well balanced diet…” They were frustrated when they found that practitioners were unable to give specific advice using terms such as ‘surprise’ and ‘disappointment’ to describe their experiences (6). An online survey on weaning timing in UK found that only 39% of respondents rated health visitor advice as most influenced their weaning decisions.
My short-term goal is to find a new job. I like my job right now but it’s starting to take a toll on me. I work at an assistant living for over 4 years now, and I’m starting to get attached the residents. Some of the residents I got the closes with have passed away or moved into a nursing home.
Barriers in Health and Social Care: The barriers in health and social care are physical barriers, psychological barriers, financial barriers, geographical barriers, cultural/language barriers and resource barriers. Physical barrier Physical barrier are objects that prevent an individual from getting to their destination. For example, a wheelchair user is unable to enter a building because there are steps so they can’t get through the entrance.
I began volunteering at my town 's nursing home in high school. Initially, I volunteered as an arts and craft aide, coloring and drawing with the patients, but soon after my sister I transformed that time slot into a performance hour, doing our gymnastics, hip-hop, ppm, cheer, and kickline routines for the patients. It was very rewarding to see the patients smile in amazement and awe and also knowing that they looked forward to seeing me each weekend. At the same it was sad to see familiar faces disappear. After I acquired Home Health Aide certificate in the summer of 2013, I was able to help physically care for the patients.

Prior to beginning this volunteer experience, I believed that I had a number of personal attributes and skills that fit this role such as having the necessary education about people, specifically older people if to work with elderly. As part of my college course, I have studied and learned about the development of people from conception to death, including how elderly people may act, think and perceive. All the knowledge I’ve attained from the lectures definitely came in handy whilst working in the nursing home. The ability to deal with mental illness properly is important when working in nursing homes as many people in nursing homes are there due to some kind of mental illness such as dementia and Alzheimer’s etc. Personal skills such as compassion, patience, being helpful, motivated, having good communication skills and being a good listener too.
Today, was a slow day. I was helping one of the assistant’s mail documents in the morning and in the afternoon my supervisor, Ashley, gave me file information forms of the clients. I had to organize the documents by file number. I Couldn’t finish all the documents he gave me because there were about five piles of documents that needed to be organized and scanned into the right
Ethics can be explained as principles a society develops to guide decisions about what is right and wrong. Ethical principles that society has are influenced by religion, history, and experience of the people in the group. Meaning that ethics is based on guidelines we have learned while growing up, that helps us differentiates what is right and what is wrong. For example, some people think health care should be a human right as others think it should only be available to those who can pay for it.
