On average, the ACT score to get into Duke as a freshman is a 32, but it is only 29 at North Carolina. So this difference raises a question, Which school is better for education? The higher acceptance rate but harder credentials, or the easier credentials but lower acceptance rate? Duke, or North Carolina? Furthermore, both schools are founding members of Atlantic Coast Conference, or commonly called the ACC. Duke and North Carolina were 2 of the original 7 in the first ACC, which was established in 1953. When the ACC was first created, it was only filled with southeast schools that are near the Atlantic Coast, hence the name, Atlantic Coast Conference. Since these two schools have been in the same conference for over 50 years, the hatred and bitterness towards each other has grown since 1953. In addition, the school color of the two schools differ slightly. Duke University created their own color for the school, Duke Blue. Duke Blue mixes 6 different shades of

Ever since the snap of that first ball in 1906, the Florida Gators have been looked at as one of the best college football teams in the country, alongside of the many teams in the SIAA (Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association). From 1906-1909 Coach Jack Forsythe led the fighting Gators to have a 14-6-2, four season start. A few decades ago, African-Americans weren’t able to participate college basketball due to racial tensions amongst blacks and whites and to Jim Crow Laws. Many programs at the collegiate level blocked this from happening on multiple occasions until in 1949, when they lifted the ban and allowed integration. By lifting the ban, this allowed inclusion that ushered in whites to compete against blacks. However, some schools still refused to compete because they were hesitant and continued to stereotype. Over time, integration was evident but it didn’t take place in major programs and blue blood schools, such as Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky and Kansas until the 70s. During the 1965-66 NCAA season, a team that including several black players out

For this project a metric would be used to predict who was going to win the 2017 March Madness Tournament. The metric consists of a team’s RPI and two stats that have a strong correlation coefficient to how the teams finished in the 2016 tournament. The Rating Percentage Index (RPI)is a ranking system that is used to determine a team 's rank in the tournament and during the regular season. The two stats had to have a moderate correlation to how the last 16 teams in the 2016 tournament finished. Also a scatter plot was used to display two different stats and how they correlated. Once the two stats were determined each part of the metric(RPI and two stats) have to be weighted by percent. For example, a metric can be RPI times 0.3 + stat1 times 0.3 + stat2 time 0.4. Then the metric is to be used with every team in the 2017 tournament. Now on the 2017 bracket the team with the higher number for the metric should win the game. Lastly do this for every game and a winner will be decided.
If there is no “I” in the word team, then what makes up a team? A group of individuals becomes a team when they all aim to a similar outcome, but without each other a desired outcome will not occur. In basketball, a game without a team will not be won. Successful players all contain certain traits that help them to achieve more than someone who lacks them. Without communication, cooperation, and a purpose, failure will happen before even stepping on the court.
