Malaysia’s population has increased steadily due to the improvement and well-developed health care system, women status, literacy, modern infrastructure and having clean water and sanitation as well as many programs introduced to reduce the poverty in the country. Correspond to Malaysia’s rapid urbanization and modernization; the proportion of urban population has increased tremendously. The urbanization process in Malaysia is influenced by natural increase and net migration. Nowadays, more populations in Malaysia are moving to urban areas which results in an increase of demand for more houses, schools and employment. The improvements in accessibility to health and medical services has attributed to the longer life span of the populations. Oral health of Malaysian’s has improved especially among schoolchildren as there is an enhancement of water fluoridation programme approved by the government. People are living longer as death rates from certain conditions such as contagious diseases, infectious diseases and cardiovascular diseases have reduced sharply. Preventive medicine has been found which play a crucial role in controlling the mortality rate that leads to longer life span of human beings. At the same time, the number of older people increased in the population. Moreover, public health measures and quarantine measures for contagious diseases as well as individual personal hygiene as families income rises also plays a pivotal role in controlling these diseases as germ theory of diseases has become more widely nowadays. Other than that, other important factors that are equally important in increasing the life span of population is the betterment in the knowledge about the needs of balanced diet and nutrition as well as living a healthy lifestyle for a better standard of living in their life. The reduction in the poverty rates of households in Malaysia also contributes to better health care of societies. The total fertility rate also shows a decrease from year to year and it has a great impact on the birth rates. This means that the total population growth rate is slowing down. The interplay between mortality rates and population age structure contributes to the mortality population in Malaysia. The low birth rate in Malaysia could be due to a few number of women are in child bearing age. The entrance of male immigrants that are brought into Malaysia by the British colony during the early formation of the country has led to the number of men which outnumbered women today.
