Increasing the number of travelers per vehicle trip contributes to the reduction of Traffic Congestion, fuel consumption, and pollution. According to the study conducted Agatz et al. (2011) the use of sophisticated optimization methods, or a complex process of pairing drivers with riders. Such methods includes a prior online announcement of an available ride-share, then the people who wishes to share a ride get to choose to be a rider or a driver.
