America has evolved quite a bit in the last two hundred years, alog with that , the way we fight wars has also changed. During the revolutionary war, the two opposing parties would stand on an open field in lines and take shots at each other. The rebelling colonists did use guerilla warfare quite often though. Guerilla warfare is when a fighting force uses stealth and ambush attacks to beat the enemy. During this time, themain weapon of choice for bothsides was the flintlock musket.
The Lieber Code, signed into law by Abraham Lincoln in 1863 during the American Civil War, was a domestic regulation of the United States Army. When, in 1899, the Hague Convention sought to codify the rules of war, it drew heavily on Lieber’s 157 articles, in which he had set out guidelines to insure that civilians and prisoners of war would be protected, despite the fighting around them. It officially codified the rules of behavior in times of war including the application of martial law, treatment of non-combatants, prisoners of war, and hostages. It also addressed pillage, spying, truces, prisoner exchanges and paroles. This code served as a working paper for the delegates to an international peace conference that included the major European
James Buchanan Jr. was born on April 23, 1791, in to Cove Gap, Pennsylvania. He attended Old Stone Academy and later Dickinson Collge. He was nearly suspended in Dickinson for less than appealing behavior but managed to graduate in 1809. He then moved to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to study law and was admitted to the bar in 1812. After this, he enlisted in the military at the beginning of the War of 1812.

Unlike any war up to the 1861, the Civil War introduced the first infantry regiment of sharpshooters. As a sharpshooter you were assign the mission to kill enemy target of importance. According to Infantry Bugler, Hiram Berdan, founder of the Sharpshooters, was appointed as the colonel of the 1st United States Sharpshooter Regiment.
THE BATTLE OF FORT RIVIERE The history of the United States can be described through many lenses. One such lens focuses on military actions and decisions, and how those decisions played into the ever-changing history of America. There are many well documented and popularized American wars and battles, which is why this mission command analysis will focus on a battle during the relatively unknown American occupation of Haiti. The battle of Fort Riviere occurred on the 17th of November, 1915 in mountainous northern Haiti between U.S. Marines and Haitian rebels known as cacos.1 Throughout the course of this paper, we will review the social and political aspects leading up to the battle as well as significant outcomes.

The spent shell casing appeared to be brass. I looked closer at the head stamp of the shell casing. I observed the markings on the head stamp with “7.62x39” and MFS on them. Through my training and experience in law enforcement and as a gun enthusiast, I know this caliber is used by an AK-47 or SKS style of assault rifle.
It still houses many old and new muskets/guns and cannons that were actually used. This became a museum where people can tour to and look at all of the weapons and tools, then it reopened for exhibition. This was the storage for the Revolutionary War and it’s still open for exhibition with all of the weapons and tools from the Revolutionary War. This is not just for their tools and weapons, they also kept their clothing and armour in there for body protection. It also houses ammunition for the guns/muskets.

Ian Graham Period 4 10/28/16 Section 1 - Muskets Before the weapons we know now, muskets were a major weapon. Muskets were slow to load taking around 20 seconds to do so and often misfired. These guns had calibers ranging from .69 to .75 inches. Muskets usually fired anywhere from 80-100 yards but were inaccurate weapons but did the job. Muskets could be fitted with bayonets, a short dual sided blade meant for close combat.
