When is the last time you 've seen someone have a panic attack when someone left their cell phone at home. this needs to stop. Right now at North Eugene High School the administration is considering on the campus how it should be a screen free campus during school and will take any cell phone they see and return them at the end of the and will resolve in a referral. Cell phones should be banned at north eugene high school because they are distracting, not helping students grades, and ruining our students social skills. Although Cell phones can help students learn, cell phones can distract kids from their ability to learn and not help their focus on schoolwork.
On account for distraction to prevent other students from doing their work, can access links to harmful websites and can be disguised as a gun, and is the number one reason for cheating. Phones shouldn’t be used in school. First of all, cellphones are detrimental because it distracts other students and classmates. The pew research says, “ ...Sixty five percent of students sneak their phones in school, and are distracted by it.” This means that other students are losing focus while trying to learn. Teachers also have a hard time teaching when a cell phone is constantly interrupting the class.
Cell phones shouldn’t be allowed in schools for the following reasons. It can be a distraction during classes because students don’t pay attention in the subjects and they can lose important knowledges. Students spend time on social networks rather than class work or studying, for they are constantly checking their messages, picks or notifications, so they get low grades. Cell phones can also be a way of bullying. Students can take a picture or made a video to ask for money or dangerous things to make an interchange whit a shameful or incriminating pic or video.
Most kids ages twelve to seventeen have cell phones, but 62% of schools don’t allow cell phones in the classroom. One day as I was walking to my class, I had my phone in my pocket, and my teacher stopped me. She told me I needed to put my phone in my locker, and I ended up being late and missed some instruction because I went and put it in my locker. Although some people may say that phones can create a distraction or be misused, the chromebooks/laptops the school provides also can be misused. The chromebooks are easy to play games on without a teacher knowing because you are supposed to be doing work on it while phones are much harder to play games on, without a teacher knowing.
Not being distracted by your cell phones or other devices, keeps you concentrated. Some people may think that phones aren’t a big deal because teachers don’t even let them use it during classes; however students can be very sneaky and use it anyways to get no work done. 75% of the students in the United States of America are distracted by their phone even when the teacher does not allow the phones to be in use during school hours. Using their phones when they are not supposed too can cause them to fail their classes since they are not paying any attention to the school work. In conclusion the “shut down your screen” week will only benefit us very much.
There has been a negative effect that teenager’s brain goes through and it does not let them think creatively and miss their brains up. Technology can go into positive and negative effect, but one thing that teenagers and parents cannot do is to stop using it for a long time. They get obsessed with it and you cannot get rid of these devices. Technology negatively affects brain development in children because usage affects their learning, and therefore technology use should be limited during children’s formative years. Students have their attention on phones and computers when they are at school.
It is crazy how we live in a generation where almost all teens are always distracted by the technology and the social media. New technology like smartphones and all that are good for teens sometimes, but can also be bad because teens get distracted by their phones a lot and also social media makes you feel bad. Another reason why phones are bad because there are teens that are sexting without knowing the consequences. Teens spend too much time and get to distracted by their phones. In the article “Teens Texting Soars: Will Skills Suffers” by Jennifer Ludden it claims “58 percent of students with mobile phone say they 've send a text during class.” When being in class sometimes there is important information given to the students by their teachers and they do not hear because they were distracted by their phones.
______________________________________________ Restate Argument/Claim (Thesis): Kids can’t get work done because they can’t get off their phones long enough to concentrate away from the distraction of technology. Answer (What would happen if your argument is/is not followed: Technology is one of the biggest distractions out there. It causes accidents, late work, makes kids fail in school and breaks families apart by taking away time from each other. If we didn’t have technology we could get more stuff done in class, save lives by staying off devices while driving and bring families closer
Children would waste their time too much on texting, calling and using other apps that are available in smart phones. These things make children busy, and they won’t concentrate a lot on their education. For instance, they will play games, listen to music, and so on. Another issue which smartphones distract children from their education is accessibility to internet and social media, so maybe they watch some unethical videos and use banned websites. Furthermore, it is possible that children misuse their smartphones at schools and their studies.
Do cell phones in class actually have such a huge impact on learning as educators say they do? Is it really relevant to ban cell phones at school? Do we really have to ban something which was already part of the school system? A simple answer to all of those questions is no. Although some schools don’t think cell phone usage should be allowed in a classroom.
