The reader can acknowledge how Singer believes that the primary source of living a meaningful life, is love. Within his novel, the Pursuit of Love, Irving Singer discusses how love is the central definition of what meaning is, as well as further analyzes how love is not a desire to be loved. Nonetheless, Irving Singer would claim that life is not meaningless because humans search for meaning within all aspects of our existence. By solely being alive, individuals find the things that matter to them; therefore, whatever we as individuals believe “matters,” is a prerequisite for our life because it will bring happiness. Irving Singer’s optimistic theories make him an ideal philosopher because he offers an immense amount of insight by discussing how we can add meaning to our lives.
It is based on seeing life as a cooperative arena, not a competitive one. Win-win is a frame of mind and heart that constantly seeks mutual benefit in all human interactions. It begins with the belief that we are all equal, that no one is inferior or superior to anyone else and no one needs to be. It means agreements or solutions are mutually beneficial and satisfying. It is a balancing act between courage and consideration.
I agree with Wallace that we should treat others with respect however, we can be expected to be self-aware and well adjusted every day but that is just living in a perfect world, which is a utopia society. Where everyone and everything remains the same and no conflict in the world, which is impossible to achieve. Everyone is different and have there own bias on what they thing creating several of self-awareness. It is good that some people could be well adjusted every day because it balances out the negatives in the world. Being self-aware enhanced to better emotional regulation and growth toward self-improvement and contentment.
To start aging successfully, we must do everything with moderation, stay active, eat well, sleep enough, and also engage with the world. Being socially connected is beneficial because you can feel fulfilled and happy. We must also find something that we enjoy so that we won't have negative thoughts that prevent our success. I think that
Transcendentalism is an appealing philosophy because it encourages individuals to rely on themselves, to ignore other’s accusations, and to accept one’s unique place. Transcendentalism is an appealing philosophy because it encourages individuals to rely on themselves. Emerson claims, “Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string” (Emerson 364). The author explains by trusting oneself, a person can truly be content with their life. The individual will be happy in what they do and wherever they go.
The Glee cast has this cool way of redefining humanity and themselves any day that they please. In James Sire’s book, he states that the Postmodernist “are only what we describe ourselves to be (UND 226).” Kurt states, “I Like me just the way I am and I’m not going to change for anyone.” I believe that this is a great way to conclude the belief system of the Glee cast and the belief system of a typical Postmodernist. In a nutshell, the Worldview likes to define who they are. They like to live life pleasing themselves and choosing what they believe should be right or wrong. Once they have defined themselves, they will not let anyone get in their way, because no one else has a right to judge them or tell them that the way that they are living is wrong.
The desire satisfaction theory (DST) describes that the good life is one where desires are satisfied. I agree that the desire satisfaction theory provides for a good life because I believe that the good life can only be determined from within, ultimately suggesting my strong agreement with Taylor’s view of the DST, and its ability to provide long-term satisfaction. While critics attempt to expose the ambiguity of DST, I believe their efforts actually strengthen the value of DST by showing how essential it is to create meaning for ourselves, rather than having it imposed upon us. I found Richard Taylor’s viewpoint on the DST to be the most important/beneficial compared to his critics. Taylor found that the meaning of life is not formed by our surrounding, rather, life’s meaning comes from within the individual.
They utilize reason, experience and regard for others when considering moral issues, not acquiescence to one sided rules. They advance happiness and satisfaction in this life since they trust it is the stand out we have, and look to human creatures and human institutions to guarantee these. The essential humanist standards hidden their backing for human rights are: appreciation for all humans as deserving of equivalent thought; support for freedom of conviction and expression; and resilience for all convictions and lifestyles the length of they don 't hurt others. So humanists restrict. So a humanist will consider all these factors while discussing the problem of racism.
Some people are able to see positive changes as a result of the unfortunate situation. “The deep truth is that our human suffering need not be an obstacle to the joy and peace we so desire, but can become, instead, the means to it. The great secret of the spiritual life, the life of the Beloved Sons and daughters of God, is that everything we live, be it gladness or sadness, joy or pain, health or illness, can all be part of the journey toward the full realization of our humanity” Henri
Horney’s belief was that if one has an accurate conception of oneself, then one is free to realize one’s potential and achieve what one wishes (New World Encyclopedia, 2017). Thus, believing that self-actualization is the healthy person’s aim through life as opposed to the neurotic’s clinging to a set of key needs, as listed above. There are two views of ourselves, the “real self” and the “ideal self.” The real self is defined as who we are (parent, child, sister, etc.) and what we want (growth, happiness, will power, gifts, etc.). The ideal self is the person we feel we should be and this model is used to assist us in developing potential and achieving self-actualization.
