Originally composed score can bring a sense of authenticity to the film, they allow the audience to create fresh memories associated with the new soundtracks. However, using known music throughout the film can also bring a unique flavor to the film. The known music can be used cleverly to invoke nostalgic memories for the audience, or introduce the audience to a different style of music that fits the setting of the film. This was evident in the film, “La Bamba”, where the directors used mostly classic rock ’n’ roll hits from the 50s to portray the life of Ritchie Valens. The director, Luis Valdez, had artists like Los Lobos record covers of Valens’ hits so a higher recorded quality of the songs could be used in the movie. The use of known music in the movie “La Bamba” was effective because not only did it successfully immersed the audience into the time of the story Valdez was trying to portray, but it also allowed the audience to get a glimpse of the cultural impact of …show more content…
The film’s portrayal of Valens’ passion for music, accompanied by the classic hits, greatly inspired me to put more effort into my guitar. Throughout the film, you can see the correlation of Valens’ attitude and also hear it from his energetic upbeat music. For me, the songs “Goodnight my Love” performed by Los Lobos and “Lonely Teardrops” performed by Howard Huntsberry, brings back memories of my father showing me his list of essential tracks which inspired me to become the musician I am today. Therefore, I would argue that the known music in “La Bamba” was effective because it invoked a positive reaction from me because I was already familiar with the music and I had good memories from it. Furthermore, there are some known music throughout the film that I haven’t heard before, however, I did not find them distracting from the story. On the contrary, I find them to be fitting to the story of “La
Page 2 of 2 MusicThe movie “Selena” was a musical in which many upbeat songs were played and sang by Selena. I will be explaining all about the music and deciphering and breaking down each song choice that was played during this movie. Selena at a young age was quite interested in the popular 80’s singer Donna Summer. She influenced Selena in many ways on why Selena loved music so much. The reason that this was a bad thing is because her family was Mexican and wasn’t usually found to sing 80’s pop.
In this point of my analysis, I deal with the scene that one could argue most enriches the main subject of the story, namely hope. In this scene that is created by Darabont, Andy, who is at Norton 's office to receive some used books and sundries for the prison 's library, locks the guard in the bathroom and then starts playing a recording of ‘Canzonettasull 'aria’ from the opera The Marriage of Figaro. As Verstraten argues, filmmakers use music as narrative tool(153) that not only challenges the audience 's emotions but also carries the theme of the movie. In this scene the music is intradiegetic since Andy connects the public speaker system to the record player so that all of the prisoners can hear the music. In her book Music in American Crime Prevention and Punishment, Lily Hirsch explains that this scene “also highlights another utopia musical ascription related to the contested idea that music is a universal language” since all the prisoners are feeling connected, enjoying the music while hope is revived within their
The score can 't come any closer to the plot itself, just like how Jacob goes back and forth between reality and his hallucinations, the main title goes back and forth from being a classical composition of strings and piano to full on electronic experimental new wave sounds. And it suits the movie so well, one might think the plot is based on the score not the other way
Ritchie Valens’ life, career, and legacy as a Latino musician in the United States will be explored deeper throughout this essay. As a musician, Valens played a major role in shaping the identity of Latino Americans in the United States.
In Romania, the main focus is on a dark violin accompanied by lyrics about the dictator of the country and how he ruined everything. The film continues to portray the lives of Rom people using jazz based music to speak to the audience in a way that words could not. When the travelers reach Spain the music evolved entirely. Even though it changed from Indian to Spanish flamenco style, the gypsy spirit is still retained within the music. The parameter of Rom music is extremely difficult to clearly define because of this paradox.
It had been utter silence for what felt like an eternity as the inhuman Santa Anna’s forces prepared for an all out attack. That was when the music started. It’s eeriness echoes through the land even now as it slowly gets more intense. One of the Tejanos looked extremely shaken and shared how it was known as El Deguello and it was played to let the enemy know they were about to be slaughtered. Everything is chaos now as my fellow defenders panic and pray to their gods.
Music is also used in the film to define and enhance certain concepts. Para 1: Symbolism / rite of passage Rundown of boys-individual journey Rite of passage is the idea of an event or ceremony that marks an important stage in someone’s life. In the case of the film
A recent movie of Pixar and Disney is Coco. A film that describe a tradition in Mexico: the Day of the Dea. I saw the movie and i like it, because the movie shows a form that really happens in this tradition in Mexico, no is a celebration with monsters or scary, in fact in the celebration we bring in our memory a our beloved family who already died, and we remember them with the things with which they used very often in their life, or with food that they liked, songs, a lot of flowers and some things more. this film show all this things with the story of one boy that want to be a musician, but in the past of his family the music made that the family separated, because the great great grandfather, leave at his wife for to be a musician,
The amazing characterization, symbolism and man vs. man in “La Bamba” all contribute to the theme of the story:One does not have to constantly worry about how people perceive them; they are great the way they are. To start off,the characterization in
Standing in the Shadows of Motown is an incredible documentary that tells the overlooked stories behind the Motown sound created by the infamous Funk Brothers. Reminiscing on the days in Studio A where a group of friends made guitar licks and ear- catching melodies that are still recognizable to this day. It shows music becoming a voice for peace in times of chaos, confusion, and hate. The Motown sound broke rules and traditions of what used to be called a groove and transformed it.
It successfully catches the audience attention for the opening scene. The music was presented in the scenes of Stella's romantic reunion with Stanley after he physically abused
Introduction Roger’s and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music is arguably one of the most well known films that many can admit to watching at least once in their lifetime. People all around the world have found this musical inspiring, as it documents growth and hope amidst the horrors of World War II. This incredibly well written film is based on the story of the Von Trapp family who escaped Austria when the Nazis invaded it during the war. Part of what made this movie so interesting on so many different accounts was the music that accompanied the vivid and exciting scenes. Without music, many could agree that our world would be a sad, quiet, dull and depressing place.
When I saw a video, I was upset that an artist wrote in Spanish but, suddenly a music from this era played while he is drawing. I was shocked and wanted to see more. The artist used a timeline like Ancient music, Medieval music, Renaissance music, Baroque music, Classical music, Romantic music, and 20th and 21h century music (Jazz, Blues, Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, and Electronic). It was amusing when he draw Beethoven, Mozart, Elvis, and The Beatles and I really love it. It was incredible when he connected the music to the drawings like if he draw Beethoven, his music play.
When listening to the song, now, it is reminiscent of the musical score in various movies. I feel like I would be able to quite easily have pieces of the music play in the background of certain scenes. It was also innovative in that it introduced a solo trumpet fanfare. It also “features a memorable second movement that combines the concept of variations with a simple three-part, or ternary, structure that can be diagrammed as A-B-A.” (145). It has been copied, sampled, and altered by various
A perfectly composed song, by my standards. I first discovered this movie when looking through the songs composed by Hans Zimmer. At the time, the movie was released I was fascinated by Hans’ work so I gave the movie a shot. To this day the main thing that stands out is how close we are to this
