Moreover, government plays a role in determining marriage because it has a set of rules one must abide to. Politically, America turned away from the past progressive values and began a more conservative approach. Religiously, there was a strong clash between Fundamentalists and Modernists about how significant the bible should impact daily life. Most significantly, society turned away from the past Fundamentalist views.
This essay was inspired by Joan Diddinś essay Marrying Absurd in which she discusses how the conventions of marriage have changed for the worse. Didion writes her essay with a blend of personal knowledge, scientific fact, and personal observation, a combination which allows her to express her opinion without making the essay a personal narrative. In contrast to Didionś essay, mine is a little more personal, I used a childhood anecdote , some scientific study and a few personal observations a basis for my critique of modern childhood. Throughout my essay ,I use imagery and detailed descriptions to express my dissatisfaction.
Oddly, the disparities of sexual partners were only an issue for the male participants, as the women participants did not allow the number of sexual partners to hinder their perception. As a group consensus, we conclude that women may disregard the number of sexual partners simply to employ the matrimania mythology. Meaning, that women possess the desire to convert possibly her potential spouse from immaturity to maturity. In that regard, women may perceive the successful transition as a greater commitment, loyalty, selflessness, sacrifice, and intimacy, which can solidify the union between the two. Also, the men in this survey collectively had the highest regards for marriage.
