Values, threats and Conservations of Biodiversity *BIODIVERSITY: “Biological diversity is the term given to the variety of life on Earth. It is the variety within and between all the species of plants, animals, and micro-organisms and the ecosystems within which they live and interact.” It is most precious gift of nature mankind is blessed with. As all the organisms in an ecosystem are interlinked and interdependent, the value of biodiversity in the life of all the organisms including humans is enormous. Some of the important values of biodiversity are:

Wetlands also act as spawning and nursery grounds for some fish and provide a refuge for animals in times of drought. Some ecosystem services are easy to overlook until the underlying process is impaired.
*Social value: The social value of biodiversity includes aesthetic, recreational, cultural and spiritual values. To this can be added health benefits resulting from recreational and other activities. While traditional societies which had a small population and required less resources had preserved their biodiversity as a life supporting resource, modern man has rapidly depleted it even to the extent of leading to the irrecoverable loss due extinction of several spices. The world has been largely preserved by the traditional societies. Since the indigenous people always protect the forests for their own benefit. In ancient times, especially in India, the environment in totally i.e., flora, fauna, etc., were held in high esteem. Trees like peepal, banyan and tulsi are still worshipped. Ladies offering water to tulsi daily is considered good and there are festivals when ladies tie sacred threads around peepal and banyan trees and pray for the welfare of their families. *3.Ecosystem

Biodiversity is a word commonly used to "describe the relative number of different species in an ecosystem. " The everglades depend on its ecosystems, that’s how everything stays running and alive. Without the everglades, there wouldn't be as many species, the everglades houses these species and without it, many of them would be extinct or endangered. Before delving into the actual meaning of value and its influence, one must understand the difference between real and nominal commodities. Nominal value is a reflection on the rate at which a currency can obtain a certain good, whereas real value focuses on the most precise measurement and estimation of labor and its commodities. Biodiversity is all life on the planet. How much life is out there, however, is still quite unclear and by this time, possibly many new species may find out. Appraise of around a range from 2 million to 100 million species, with only about 1.4 million are named at this current time. The attainable diversity of uncharacterized species is very much frustrating, visualizes how many species are here and others are still missing or unrecognized. However, now days where globalization intercepts species have begun to dissolve at a very alarming and devastating rate.

Introduction: Our earth is the most precious gift of the universe. It is the sustenance of ‘nature’ that is the key to the development of the future of mankind. It is the duty and responsibility of each one of us to protect nature. It is here that the understanding of the ‘environment’ comes into the picture. The degradation of our environment is linked with the development process and the ignorance of people about retaining the ecological balance.
