Systems View of the Organization The Varsity Reds is an open system organization because it has a link to the external environment and all the key aspects of an open system described by systems theory including inputs, throughputs, and outputs. The organization also includes an internal environment and an external environment which will be discussed in greater detail shortly. The inputs of an organization are the acquisition of external resources. UNB, other colleges and universities, Varsity Reds alumni, and the community in which the organization resides are a few factors within the Varsity Reds external environment. A stakeholder may provide resources to the organization, they may currently be a part of or had once been a part of the organization itself, or they may just be fans of the organization. A key stakeholder of the Varsity Reds organization is the University of New Brunswick. The University of New Brunswick provides resources such as money out of its operating budget and facilities for the Varsity Reds so that the organization can run efficiently and effectively. The successfulness of Varsity Reds organization impacts UNB's reputation either positively or negatively. Just like within any other organization in the sports world, stakeholders are happier when the organization is competitive against others within the industry and are succeeding. Typically, in the sports world succeeding means winning. The more teams and individual athletes that win represent not only the Varsity Reds but the University of New Brunswick as a whole. Another key stakeholder in the Varsity Reds organization is its current athletes. Committing to a college or university is a big deal and usually in the Canadian university context means committing to representing that universities sports program for at least four years. Student athletes are key stakeholders because they put their time in representing the Varsity Reds by competing under the name of the organization and by having an impact on the

Sports are both physically and mentally demanding. In order to succeed one must work hard and learn to develop a trusting relationship with teammates, coaches, and with themselves. Winning is not always easy, yet it can be attained with a strong work ethic and the determination to never give up. The movie, “McFarland, USA,” and the story of the Washington Crew’s journey to win Olympic gold in “The Boys in the Boat” both exclaim how hard work and determination create success in sports.

This satisfaction sparks the unity of many. Satisfaction comes through personal and indirect involvement.
Recreational sport programs take on a more laid back approach. It is not much competitive and serious as interscholastic sports, because the goal is really just to have fun and get/stay in shape. A mission statement for any sports program is important because it sets goals and sends a message to the program of what
Is it equivocal for the NCAA to produce more than $1 billion and for the players, who are the ones who are generating majority of the revenue, to not get paid a single penny? This topic has been widely debated for the past few years, and in “Viewpoint: College Athletes Should Be Paid,” Raman Mama sets forward an argument in favor of the monetary payment of college athletes. We all have different ways of perceiving and making sense of the world around us. What an individual considers a golden opportunity another considers a threat. Perception is the process of receiving information about and making sense of the world around us (McShane et al., 2010: 88). On Saturday October 17th I attended the field hockey game at Siena College. The Saints were up against Bryant. I had never seen a field hockey game before that day, and I was not sure if I would enjoy watching it or not. Introduction Systems and Contingency theory recognizes that external factors as well as internal factors affect management. The Contingency theory is offered as an alternative to Open Systems theory as the foundation for improved organizational performance, since it can provide more precise conceptual variables. In addition, providing a way of distinguishing between organizations as well as situations faced by organizations (or the same organization over time) is an aspect systems and contingency theory focuses on. Systems theory and contingency theory therefore attempt at providing an understanding of how organizations ought to be structured. The following paper will discuss the systems theory and the contingency theory.
In subsequent sections of this paper, the stakeholder theory is discussed in details
