1.1 INTRODUCTION
Vastu is a Sanskrit word which means Vaas: Live Tu: you, a place where you live or dwell. Shastra means a text which contains knowledge or instructions. Simply put Vastu Shastra means instructions laid down for building a structure. Vastu is an ancient science dealing with construction technology and techniques for building environment friendly dwelling which are in harmony with nature, cosmic forces and universe. Vastu shastra, the ancient architectural science, was first mentioned in the Indian holy texts called The Vedas. Vas meaning to live and Astu meaning in this was. The combined meaning indicates the particular guidelines for human's dwelling on this mother earth in an environment-friendly manner. The other practical meaning and application of Vastu is to build a positive environment and a worth-living surrounding. In Sanskrit, Shastra means the rules and regulations to ensure a perfect system or by-laws. Vastu Shastra finds its origin mainly in the Sthapatya Veda, which is a part of Atharv Veda. Vastu Shastra, in fact, is nothing but creating a congenial environment by taking benefits bestowed by the five advantages or elements called Panch-Maha-Bhootas of the nature thus paving way for enhanced health, wealth, prosperity and happiness in enlightened milieu. The human being is made of these five elements. The origination from the earth, then one enjoys begins other like water, air, space, fire(sunlight and elements sunrays), attains the young age, then enters into old age and at last merges with the earth either through ashes or through burial. Duke Kahanamoku was an Olympic surfer from Hawaii, he was born August 24, 1890 in the Kalia District of Honolulu. Kahanamoku introduced surfing to the world after it almost died out with other local Hawaiian traditions in the nineteenth century. European people came to Hawaii around 1778 and adored the traditions of the native people and quickly joined in riding the waves on flat boards. Christian missionaries later had the local Hawaiians believe that surfing was uncivilized and tried to ban the sport. BGSU vs. TU As scary as it can be, choosing a college is a huge life decision. The next 4 or 5 years of my life are basically determined by which college I choose. Not only will it determine how I live for the next few years, but also how I live for the rest of my life. Karta is a 12 year old African American girl, who has experienced a long history of trauma. She was referred to me by her school social worker Ms. Johnson who reports that she has academic problems, severe inattention, hyperactivity, physical violent tantrums and is disrespectful to her peers and teachers. Karta was raised in a single parent household during the first few years of her life. Karta’s father died in a car accident before she was born so she never got a chance to meet him. Karta’s mother Michelle became depressed and turned to alcohol to cope with her pain.
On May 14, 2017 I interviewed Pouneh Sanaee about what it means to be American to her. She’s an immigrant that moved here two years ago from Iran. she wants to be a pharmacist, start to play basketball basketball like she used to in High School, and be able to help her family. The reason that she moved here was because she is Baha'i and the government in Iran says that it’s crime to be Bahai. The government used to jail her family just because of what they believed in which is really sad.
