As a reader one has to know what to look for and identify the main idea and understand what the author is trying to argue. Before taking Writing 10 I felt I was a good reader and able to identify the main idea in a prompt, but little did I really know. After going through the research process and trying to identify reliable sources I have essentially cut out the unnecessary information and I go straight to the idea or argument being made by the author. As of before, I would focus on every detail of the writing. Having been assigned readings and having discussions about the readings during class, I soon realized that writing is about an argument being made with supporting evidence.
While taking English 090, I have learned to overcome this fear. Getting feedback from others during workshop days was very useful because I received tips on how to make changes to your paper to make it stronger. This gave me the opportunity to practice my critical reading/thinking skills by actively reading our partners papers. This also gave us the freedom to leave remarks in the margins of others’ essay to not only help them, but help ourselves learn. Self Reflection over an Introduction to Adaptive Leadership When first signing up for this class I believed it to be a class about learning how to become a leader, or an even better one. After watching the course introduction and learning more about this class I learned that it was not what I thought it was about, but would still value me greatly. As I have examined the history of different leadership styles and theories I have expanded greatly on what I knew about leadership, learning specifically about adaptive leadership. I can also say that I have seen growth in my journals over the past few weeks, as they have started to grasp a better understanding of adaptive leadership.
What I mean by specific is that it is time-specific and nature-specific. In addition, I have always heard of the term SMART but I did not give it my attention because I thought it would be just like many other useless methods of time management. However, the way this lecture illustrated this term or method is very unique and has helped me in implementing this method in my daily life. For instance, a goal should be time-based, for years I used to set goals or tasks and never put a deadline or timeframe, so I keep procrastinating until I lose track of time and eventually finishing the task in as imperfect way or not finishing it at all.

Throughout the school year, each time that my students walk through my classroom door I want the atmosphere to attract them to always want to read and write. As the school year progress, teacher made anchor charts are displayed strategically around my classroom as well as genre posters, new vocabulary words, class library books and additional skills that are introduced throughout the year. If money were no object, and I could do anything I wanted I would foster a literacy rich classroom that my students would consider a sanctuary for learning. After having read “The Elements of a Literacy-Rich Classroom Environment”, I agree with K. Tyson position that “we should begin by focusing attention on the classroom environment and make certain that it is a place that supports and encourages literacy learning.”
I have become more determined which is one of my strengths. What I have done to stay more focused is make a list of my priorities that I need to stay on task with.
