Throughout the book And Then There Were None, Vera Claythorne was a very quick-witted person. In order for her to try and make it out alive, she had to be courageous, reliable to the other guests, and stand her own ground. Vera was a courageous guest who had many strengths. “How was it worked-that trick with the marble bear (pg.262)?” This is a sentence that shows Vera blaming Philip for the death of Blore. Towards the end when Vera and Philip Lombard are the only two left on the island, Vera knows that Philip Lombard has the gun. Vera picks Philip Lombard’s pocket and grabs the gun, pointing it at Lombard. As he tries to get the gun back, Vera fires the gun, killing Lombard. Vera was also reliable to the other guests.
