Randy Neugebauer once said, “While only one day of the year is dedicated solely to honoring our veterans,Americans must never forget the sacrifices that many of our fellow countrymen have made to defend our country and protect our freedoms.” My responsibility to America is to honor our veterans and our active military members. My family as always, been supporting the military in fact my great grandfather was in the military plus two of six kids of his also served. My brother also serves in the National Guard as a tanker.I 've had many family members in the military at least one member in each branch of the military. There are some bad things about the military that might happen, which are 300 thousand and rising numbers of military veterans on the streets, why should the one that protected this country live on the streets? People that get sent to prisons get a place to sleep, but our veterans don 't?
“Christopher Reeve”. That 's why I chose my dad as my hero. No matter what the task is he was willing to do it just help an make a in pact on people so why don’t we do do the same. Who are your heros? My dad is my hero because he served in the military he fought for us even though he new all the danger that he was going to be in.
No matter what the task was, he stands up for his people to show them that a hero never backs down no matter if they are bigger and stronger than them. He sacrificed his life for his people for they had honored him for everything he has done for them (Georgianna, 1987). On the other hand, in the article of The Hero as Keeper of Human Polity, it describes how Beowulf is a good example to be a productive art. Not only does Beowulf represent heroic in the poem, but the poem is presenting “virtue as an act that sustains and vice as act that disrupts human brotherhood” (Kroll, 1986). Therefore, both of the articles are expressing and showing that heroic isn’t just something that they do for good.
Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass were heroic men who fought for freedom and liberty. Abraham Lincoln was heroic because during the Civil War he was fighting to keep the union together, for freedom, and liberty. In a sermon for Lincoln’s funeral Phineas D. Gurley stated that; “ He is dead; but the cause he so ardently loved… not for himself only, not for us, but for all people in their coming generations, till time shall be no more-that cause survives his fall, and will survive it”(SB, p. 68). The cause that Lincoln fought for was not just unique to the Civil War era but timeless. In addition, what also made him heroic was that he pursued freedom and liberty for people of all race, “From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object

110 “America’s Gift to My Generation” The veterans are some of the greatest people in our country. The veterans fought, and some even died just to protect our country from war. They have given us so many gifts. Just like Herbert Hoover said, “My country owes me nothing. It gave me, as it gives every boy and girl, a chance.
It expresses the people who have died fighting for our country and Franklin D. Roosevelt who fought for freedom of speech and worship and the freedom from want and fear. This monument is here to remind us to be grateful of the brave individuals who fought on behalf of our community and the fact that we are free Americans, thanks to President Roosevelt. It is interesting to see the relation of the lists of people on the towers from so long ago to the East Tennessee counties that we all live in today. The Athenian monument, with its list of people and their tribe, shows how proud Athens is of the ones who died in the fight to protect Athens, which is similar to the pride that the people of Tennessee have for the ones who have died and are now named on the East Tennessee Veteran Memorial. This shows us that even with how different days were back in the AD times, they still cared enough to build a monument in commemoration of the people who sacrificed their lives to fight on behalf of their

To All Veterans; To those that have served, from the birth of our great nation to our infinite future. To those that thought more of the lives of others more so than of their own lives. To the families that allow these one-in-a-hundred type men and women to serve and jeopardize their lives for the greater good of this distinguished nation. Today I’m thanking you and will forever be thanking you, for I’m proud to say I’m a free man, rather than under the control of tyranny and dictatorship. You have impacted this great nation in a way that at times is incomprehensible when considering what separates us from other nations across the world.
According to president obama, all countries should come together to honor our fellow veterans on Memorial Day. I strongly agree with this claim, regardless of what had happened 50 years ago between these countries; it is best to forgive and move on because each and every country knew what they were signing up for and the consequences that they would have to face. However, these countries are always at war, so coming together once a year to show our gratitude to the veterans that fought for their individual country is the best way to honor them. Thus , soldiers did what they thought was protecting their own country and risked their lives to protect their people, so each country can afford to sacrifice one day on their behalf. Memorial day is
As an American citizen, I am aware of my rights. I am very thankful for my rights and I am genuinely grateful for the people who served to give me those rights. To emphasize, rights, equality and having a strong government is very important.
From the beginning of Colin Powell’s life he has made many great choices that have greatly affected the outcome of his life. For example , he earned many awards for his bravery and service to his country. Some people called him an American leader because of the great choices. His great choices have affected not only his life , but other people’s lives too. Others may argue that he was not a great American leader. Some think that it was just luck or that the government was desperate and had to have a Secretary of State so they just selected Colin Powell.
